HOOK

Welcome to the second day of July— yesterday right here at “The Message” we started with Chapter 13, and the very first story in it was the narrative when Jesus washed His disciples’ feet
We did the first half of the story yesterday, and from it we learned the following:
WHAT THE ENEMY MEANT FOR EVIL JESUS TURN IT FOR GOOD
I WILL TRUST THE LORD EVEN IN TIMES WHEN I DO NOT UNDERSTAND
Today let’s continue with the other half of the story— Open your Bible to JOHN 13:8-17, you sure knew what to do once you get to it, type Amen!
CHARACTER, COMMAND, PROMISES, CONVICTIONS, EXAMPLES, CHALLENGES AND ENCOURAGEMENT
Read JOHN 13:8-17

BOOK

John 13:8–17 NIV
8 “No,” said Peter, “you shall never wash my feet.” Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.” 9 “Then, Lord,” Simon Peter replied, “not just my feet but my hands and my head as well!” 10 Jesus answered, “Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean. And you are clean, though not every one of you.” 11 For he knew who was going to betray him, and that was why he said not every one was clean. 12 When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them. 13 “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16 Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.
This is just a continuation of the story from yesterday, so you already knew the settings of the event, what, when, where, why it happened, how it happened, and who are in the story

LOOK

NOT JUST MY FEET BUT MY HANDS AND MY HEAD AS WELL
“My hands” symbolizes people’s decisions and their sis against other people, and God
“My head” represents peoples’ thoughts and the sins they commit in their minds
THOSE WHO HAVE HAD A BATH NEED ONLY TO WASH THEIR FEET
Jesus used metaphor— figure of speech— not to be taken literally [Talinghaga]— implying that He is the water and his work in the believers is the cleansing— JOHN 15:3
THOUGH NOT EVERYONE OF YOU. FOR HE KNEW WHO WAS GOING TO BETRAY HIM
Jesus said this referencing to Judas— who the night after this dinner will betray him
Even someone who has spent much time with Jesus, witnessed his works, must still make a decision about whether to accept him
But it is important to keep in mind that, it was the devil who put the idea [to betray Jesus] in his mind
That’s why yesterday one of the things we learned was— what the enemy meant for evil, Jesus turn it for good— explain the series of events that took place after that
I HAVE SET YOU AN EXAMPLE THAT YOU SHOULD DO AS I HAVE DONE FOR YOU
Jesus leads by example— His life here on earth is meant to give a us a pattern that we must abide by, even in difficult situation
YOU WILL BE BLESSED IF YOU DO THEM
God will help and honor those who follow Jesus— he said these just in the previous chapter, look— JOHN 12:26

TOOK

I WILL GIVE MY WHOLE TO CHRISTROMANS 12:1, ROMANS 6:13
