3am: DO NOT BE DECEIVED

How many of are good with home improvment projects? Like hanging pictures, plumbing, you know fixing stuff. Ok everyone who raised your hands, I am calling you when I need to hang pictures. You want to know why? Because I stink at it.
Now I am not saying I am the worst handy man in the world. Because I still hang pictures but it might take me a few hours and few tries. But there are a few things that I do know about houses. Like if you go to build a house you DONT BUILD IT ON A SINKHOLE!
Have you heard about this? Apparently, in Florida there have been a few times that poeple built houses on sink holes and then a few years later, it’s GONE...
Like becasue the foundation of the house, you know what a foundation is right? A foundation what goes under the house. You put the house on the foundation so that the house does not move. And when you have a bad foundation, apparently in Florida, your house can be sucked up into the ground. I am not messing with you. Tonight go home and look up ‘House got swallowed up by sinkhole’. It is crazy. But it happens so often that the state of Florida has a page on their website about sinkholes. And they have a spot on their with some commonly asked questions. Like ‘what is a sinkhole?’ or ‘why is my house sinking?’, now the question I would ask is ‘WHY DID THEY BUILD MY HOUSE A SINKHOLE?’
I guess this goes to show that no matter what the house looks like, it can be this perfect looking house but if your foundation is not right then you are in trouble. And this is exactly what Jesus is saying in the last section of the Sermon on the mount. Jesus says that those who build their lives without the Word, without the Bible are building their lives on a sinkhole.
Now today we get to finsh the sermon on the mount. Now who can tell me what is the Sermon on the Mount? It is the most famous sermon ever taught, it was taught by Jesus.
And who knows where we can find this sermon? In Matthew chapter 5-7.
And today we are going to look at Jesus’ final words in this sermon.
And if I were to sum up this last section and maybe even this whole series that we have gone through, I could put it in three words. If you are taking notes I would write this down.
