Camp Recap// Need for the Gospel
Dead in your trespasses and sins - under the wrath of God for depravity
Alive in Christ - salvation through the cross, wrath of God satisfied in Christ’s death
Same need is here right now - Urgent need for the True Gospel

Double Warning

Galatians 1:6–9 ESV
6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— 7 not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.
- Previously talked about Paul’s astonishment of desertion
Vs. 8 & 9 brings the double warning
if we try to preach salvation other than the work of Christ on the cross, may we be under a curse from God - ANGELS included
Gives double warning to ensure the readers heed it

DON’T LISTEN TO A FALSE GOSPEL
Why is Paul so serious for the true Gospel? Can’t he chill out? What about love and grace and forgiveness, isn’t that what Christianity is all about?
the most loving thing you can tell someone is the truth

John 18:37–38 ESV
37 Then Pilate said to him, “So you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world—to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.” 38 Pilate said to him, “What is truth?” After he had said this, he went back outside to the Jews and told them, “I find no guilt in him.

Difficult Days

2 Timothy 3:1–5 ESV
1 But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. 2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, 4 treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.

Matthew 24:4–8 ESV
4 And Jesus answered them, “See that no one leads you astray. 5 For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are but the beginning of the birth pains.

Don’t be led astray - How?
Pressing into the Gospel
Romans 1:16–17 ESV
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”
The seriousness Paul takes with the Gospel is due to the pressing need for the lost to hear the true Gospel
it is the only power that can save
the only way to heal the brokenness inside of a person
How is this done? by faith
Ephesians 2:8–9 ESV
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
