We are living in a culture today that does not hold the same regard for the Word of God as the cultures of previous generations once did.
And while we’re right to be concerned about our secular cultures rejection of the Bible and the saving gospel it proclaims,
it is the biblical illiteracy that exists within the church itself that presents a far deeper and much more troubling problem.
And because most biblically illiterate Christians are the products of churches that minimize the authority of Scripture and marginalize the necessity of personal and corporate Bible Study - this is where change must begin.
It is my hope and most sincere prayer that what we learn here tonight and over the next several weeks will initiate a change in our own lives - and encourage us to advocate for the biblical literacy of all Christians.
And so it is with that in mind, that I would like to present to you part 1 of ‘A Lamp in the Dark.’
