Focus

  1. Getting Focused-Individually
    1. Focus on who you are becoming not what you’ve done

                                                              i.            What is God calling you to do?

                                                            ii.            What is God teaching you daily?

                                                          iii.            To be like Christ (Romans 8:29) (Philippians 3:12-15)

                                                          iv.            Focus on the now and future not the past.

    1. God will speak to us if we inquire

                                                              i.            Listen to what God is saying to you. (James 1:22-25)

                                                            ii.            Are we listening to what God is saying to us? (2 Samuel 5:23)

                                                          iii.            Do What he says (James 2:14-26)

    1. Develop a Passion/Burden (Nehemiah 1:1-11)                                                               i.            Nehemiah had a heart for his people

                                                            ii.            After hearing the bad news he cried and fasted for days.

                                                          iii.            Repented for past sins

                                                          iv.            Nehemiah developed a burden for restoring the wall that saw him through the project and allowed him to keep focus.

  1.  Getting Focused-Together
    1. Ministry is a Team Sport                                                               i.            “It is not good for man to be alone.” (Genesis 2:18)

                                                            ii.            Two work smarter than one (Ecclesiastes 4:9-11)

1.      Synergos (Greek) = Fellow worker/Co-worker

2.      Synergy (Modern) = Multiplied results

                                                          iii.            Jesus showed us by pouring Himself into His disciples

    1. Develop leaders not followers

                                                              i.            The Old Testament is full of examples of developing leaders not followers

1.      God empowering His people

2.      Fathers developing sons into leaders

                                                            ii.            Jesus developed his disciples into leaders who changed the world and still influence it today.

  1. Getting Focused- As Leaders
    1. Set your eye on the goal and work toward that end.                                                               i.            To be a church that equips (2 Timothy 2:2)

                                                            ii.            Strengthen our Hands for the tasks to come (Nehemiah 6:9)

    1. Seasons of Fasting

                                                              i.            Raising up other leaders (Acts 14:21-25)

                                                            ii.
