(13) And then, when Joshua was at Jericho, he lifted up his eyes
and he saw,
and look!
A man standing before him,
and his sword being drawn in his hand,
and Joshua went to him,
and he said to him,
"Are you for us or for our foes?"
(14) And he said,
"No.
For I am commander of the army of Yahweh.
It is now that I have come."
And Joshua fell on his face toward the earth,
and he bowed down/worshipped,
and he said to him,
"What [is] my Lord speaking to his servant?
(15) And the commander of the army of Yahweh said to Joshua,
"Take off your sandal from on your foot,
For the place where you are standing on it holy it is,
And Joshua did thus.
(1) Now/And it was Jericho that was closed up, and it was being closed from before the sons of Israel.
There was no one going out and there was no one going [in].
(2) And Yahweh said to Joshua,
"Look!
I have given into your hand Jericho, and its king, mighty warriors of the army.
(3) You will surround/encircle the city-- all the men of war--to circle the city one time.
Thus you will do six days,
(4) while the seven priests will carry seven ram's horns before the ark,
while on the seventh day you will circle the city seven times,
while the priests will blow on the horns.
(5) And then, when they make a long blast on the ram's horn, when you hear the sound of the horn, all the people will shout a great shout,
and the wall of the city will fall under it,
and the people will go up, each man straight ahead."
(6) And Joshua the son of Nun called to the priests,
And he said to them,
"Carry the ark of the covenant,
while seven priests will carry seven ram's horns before the ark of Yahweh.
(7) And they said to the people,
"Cross over and encircle/surround the city,
while the ones equipped for war will cross over before the ark of Yahweh."
(8) And then, as soon as Joshua had spoken to the people and seven priests carrying seven ram's horns before Yahweh, they crossed over,
And they blew on the horns,
while the ark of the covenant of Yahweh was walking/going after them,
(9) while the ones equipped for war were walking/going before the priests who were blowing the horns,
while the rear guard was walking/going after the ark to walk and to blow on the horns,
(10) while the people Joshua commanded, saying,
"Don't shout
and don't let your voice be heard,
and a word can't come from your mouths
until the day I tell you, "Shout!,"
and you will shout."
(11) And the ark of Yahweh was caused to encircle/surround the city to circle one time,
And the camp went
And they spent the night in the camp.
(12) And Joshua rose early in the morning,
And the priests carried the ark of Yahweh,
(13) while seven priests carrying seven rams' horns before the ark of Yahweh who were walking to walk,
And they blew on the horns,
while the ones equipped for war were walking before them,
while the rear guard was walking after the ark of Yahweh to walk and to blow on the horns,
(14) And they surrounded/encircled the city on the second day one time,
And the camp returned.
It was thus that they did six days.
(15) And then on the seventh day,
they rose at dawn,
And they encircled/surrounded the city as this custom seven times.
Only, on that day they encircled the city seven times.
(16) And then, at the seventh time, the priests blew on the horns,
and Joshua said to the people,
"Shout!
because Yahweh has given to you the city.
(17) And the city will be kherem-- it, and all that is in it-- to Yahweh.
Only, Rahab the prostitute will live-- she, and all who with her in the house--
because she hid the messengers who we sent."
(18) while, only, you, keep (yourselves) from the kherem,
lest [while?] you are devoting to destruction (khereming),
and you are taking from the kherem,
and you are making the camp of Israel for a kherem and bring trouble on it,
(19) while all the silver and gold, and all the copper/bronze vessels, and iron is holy/dedicated to Yahweh.
To the treasury of Yahweh it will go.
(20) And the people shouted
And they blew on the horns.
And then, when the people heard the voice/sound of the horn, the people shouted a great shout,
And the wall fell under it,
And the people went up to the city, each man straight ahead,
And they captured the city,
(21) And they kheremed all that [was] in the city, both man and woman, both youth and old, both ox and donkey for kherem,
(22) while it was to the two men spying/exploring the land that Joshua said,
"Go to the house of the woman prostitute
and bring her out from there, the woman and all who with/for her just as you swore to her."
(23) And the youths, the ones spying/exploring, went
And they brought out Rahab and her father and her mother and her brothers and all who with her,
while all of her clan they brought out and set them outside the camp of Israel,
(24) while the city they burned with fire, and all that was in it.
Only, the silver and the gold and the copper/bronze vessels and the iron they gave (to the) treasury of the house of Yahweh,
(25) while Rahab the prostitute and the house of her father and all who were with her Joshua caused to live,
and she lived in the midst of Israel up to this day
because she hid the messengers that Joshua sent to explore Jericho.
(26) And Joshua swore at that time, saying,
"Cursed is the man before Yahweh
