Proverbs 3:1–4 KJV 1900
1 My son, forget not my law; But let thine heart keep my commandments: 2 For length of days, and long life, And peace, shall they add to thee. 3 Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: Bind them about thy neck; Write them upon the table of thine heart: 4 So shalt thou find favour and good understanding In the sight of God and man.

The second command that will help you to be blessed is how you treat others.

There are two commands that if they are obeyed will give you favour with God and man.

Matthew 22:36–39 KJV 1900
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Favor comes by showing mercy to humanity, our neighbors.

Jesus told a story about being neighborly in Luke 10 ‘t which we call the good Samaritan.

Luke 10:36–37 KJV 1900
36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves? 37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

How is it that we want the goodness of God but don’t want to show the mercy of God to our neighbours.

Micah 6:8 KJV 1900
8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; And what doth the Lord require of thee, But to do justly, and to love mercy, And to walk humbly with thy God?

God tells His people what He wants.

Hosea 6:6 KJV 1900
6 For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; And the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

The command of Proverbs 3:4 will help us to get favor from God and man.

We will talk about Trust next time.

Favor is grace, and grace is unmerited favor. Favor looks kindly upon someone or treats someone with special regard.

God shows us what favor is with those in the Bible.

Samuel had Favor.

1 Samuel 2:26 KJV 1900
26 And the child Samuel grew on, and was in favour both with the Lord, and also with men.

King David was favored of God.

1 Samuel 13:14 KJV 1900
14 But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the Lord hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the Lord hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the Lord commanded thee.

Jesus was favored.

Luke 2:52 KJV 1900
52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

The early church was favoured.

Acts 2:47 KJV 1900
47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

If we keep these commandments we will be favoured of God and man.

Romans 14:18 KJV 1900
18 For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.

The second command in Proverbs 3 beings favor with it.
