34 But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together.
35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Represents the whole person, not separate category of human experience. Love for God must naturally lead to love with those who are made in his image. These two interconnected laws – love for God and love for one neighbor – together summarizes all the 10 Commandments

9 For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not bear false witness,” “You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
The greatest moral force in the world is not the law but love. Love from God and for others empowers people to do what they cannot accomplish in the flesh – fulfill the law
13 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.

Believers are to awake out of sleep, not be complacent in this period of the Lord's absence. They can only see signs of the Lord's return if they are awake and alert.
37 And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!”
6 Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.
11 And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.
Salvation here is the third sense of the word in Scripture. Believers were saved in the past justified, are continuously being saved sanctified and third will ultimately be saved glorified when Christ returns.

Works of darkness are acts of sin people on hidden from sight (Eph. 5:11). Works of light are acts of righteousness Paul refers to armor indicating that spiritual warfare will characterize the weight through Jesus's return.

4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;
18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—
8 But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation.

16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
11 Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul,
Love is to be the predominant characteristic of Christians while they wait for the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
31 But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
31 But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.
