Fitting - 2:9-10

We do not see all things subjected now, but we do see Jesus crowned (at time of writing) - Acts 7:55-56
Acts 7:55–56 ESV
But he, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. And he said, “Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.”
This is an act of God’s grace (undeserved favor); we would not normally consider death an act of grace, or...
It is fitting (appropriate), not in the judgment of the writer, but recognition that everything God does is fitting, since He is the center of all, and all is for Him
Perfect the author of their salvation - Heb 5:9
Hebrews 5:9 ESV
And being made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him,

Brethren - 2:10-13

The sanctifier and the sanctified have the same source (not speaking of creation of life, but originator of design to save) - Psa 2:7; John 1:14
Psalm 2:7 ESV
I will tell of the decree: The Lord said to me, “You are my Son; today I have begotten you.
John 1:14 ESV
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
His death is to proclaim and praise God - Psa 22:22
Psalm 22:22 ESV
I will tell of your name to my brothers; in the midst of the congregation I will praise you:
That is trust, not fear - Isa 8:12-17
Isaiah 8:12–17 ESV
“Do not call conspiracy all that this people calls conspiracy, and do not fear what they fear, nor be in dread. But the Lord of hosts, him you shall honor as holy. Let him be your fear, and let him be your dread. And he will become a sanctuary and a stone of offense and a rock of stumbling to both houses of Israel, a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. And many shall stumble on it. They shall fall and be broken; they shall be snared and taken.” Bind up the testimony; seal the teaching among my disciples. I will wait for the Lord, who is hiding his face from the house of Jacob, and I will hope in him.
As His brethren (and fellow children of God), we must have that same trust - Isa 8:18
Isaiah 8:18 ESV
Behold, I and the children whom the Lord has given me are signs and portents in Israel from the Lord of hosts, who dwells on Mount Zion.

Partook of flesh and blood - 2:14-16

Since God made us of flesh, the Savior must become like us to be our sacrifice - Heb 10:4
Hebrews 10:4 ESV
For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
He took Satan’s greatest weapon - death, the antithesis of life - and defeated him - Gen 2:7
Genesis 2:7 ESV
then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.
Fear of death is slavery - Matt 10:26-28
Matthew 10:26–28 ESV
“So have no fear of them, for nothing is covered that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. What I tell you in the dark, say in the light, and what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops. And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
He does not help the angels, but He does help the descendant of Abraham (faithful child of God) - 1 Pet 1:10-12
1 Peter 1:10–12 ESV
Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired carefully, inquiring what person or time the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories. It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look.
