Biblical writers used the names of deities from Canaanite religion attached to specific natural phenomena and illnesses.
Habakkuk 3:5 ESV
5 Before him went pestilence, and plague followed at his heels.
/ pestilence and plague (deber, resep) - these were names of Canaanite deities…
Psalm 91:6 ESV
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday.

Ps. 91:3 = deadly pestilence
Deut 32:24 - Plague is the word resep, which is a version of Resheph… which in Ugaritic texts is a god of destruction. - The Ugaritic / Canaanites said that Resheph is an archer… note what Deut 32:24 says of these things (hunger, plague, pestilence)… - God will use these evil things to heap disasters upon the rebellious people… and will ‘spend his arrows on them’…

Ps. 91:3-6… if you are in the shelter of the Most High… you will be dilivered from the ‘deber’… (deadly pestilence) - and will not fear the arrow… nor the pestilence (deber) nor the destruction (qeteb)

Ps. 91:6… When the OT was translated into Gk (LXX)… it uses the word demon...
English = nor the destruction (qeteb) that wastes at noonday
LXX = from mishap and demon at midday (literally: midday demon)
