Good evening friends and family. On behalf of Susan and all of Jerry’s loved ones, thank you for being here today to honor and celebrate the life of Jerry Mascari. A man who lived a full life but one that was cut short by a terrible cancer but today we take peace and joy in knowing his experience is different now.

Revelation 21:3-5(NIV)

3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” 5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
Jerry Edward Mascari, 66, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2020, at Ascension St. Vincent, Kokomo, Indiana, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born and spent his early years in Beach Grove, Indiana. His family later moved to Moline, Illinois, where he graduated from high school at United Township High School in 1973. Moline is where many of his family still reside and call home. During high school, he earned his pilot's license and continued to fly through the 1970s.
After graduation, he spent 10 years as a carpenter working for John Deere while he started a family. He had two children of his own Anthony and Nikki whom he deeply loved.
He then moved to Florida and later relocated to Richmond, Indiana, where he worked for Saginaw.
He studied electrical engineering at Back Hawk College in Moline, Illinois, and then started his career at Chrysler as an electrician in 1997. He retired after 19 years and had spent the last three years enjoying retirement. One of Jerry’s best qualities was he was an extremely hard worker, some might even say to a fault.
Jerry met his wife and best friend Susan through work. They started off as just friends and bonding while sharing rides to and from work. Their connection grew and grew and they spent 14 years together as a married couple sharing life and love. Susan says she loved the way they were comfortable together.
His passions included fishing in which he even fished in the pro bass circuit for a time. He and Susan loved golfing together, and he enjoyed flying model airplanes.
He also had a passion for eating and trying new foods. Some say he "lived to eat." Mexican was his favorite type of food. He recently took up camping as a hobby after retirement, he loved the opportunity to be outdoors and relax.
Lastly, he was a doting grandfather and loved nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren. He spent some time camping with them this summer and was also able to take them fishing in early fall.
I now want to invite up Jerrys brother Rocky to share a few words about his brother.
He had a strong belief in God which he held on to in the midst of the trials of life.

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in Me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”

“For God so loved the world that He sent His one and only Son, that who so ever should believe in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world but to save the world through Him.”

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

“I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart ! I have overcome the world.”

Jesus said,

“ I am the Resurrection and the Life.

He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whosoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this ?”
