What Does The Bible Say?
Revelation 21-22
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared. And the sea was also gone. 2 And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven like a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. 4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.” (Revelation 21:1–4 NLT)
God is recreating the Garden of Eden, but better.
Then the angel showed me a river with the water of life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb. 2 It flowed down the center of the main street. On each side of the river grew a tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, with a fresh crop each month. The leaves were used for medicine to heal the nations. 3 No longer will there be a curse upon anything. For the throne of God and of the Lamb will be there, and his servants will worship him. 4 And they will see his face, and his name will be written on their foreheads. 5 And there will be no night there—no need for lamps or sun—for the Lord God will shine on them. And they will reign forever and ever.(Revelation 22:1–5 NLT)
We make our decision to follow Christ in this life, not the next.
20 He who is the faithful witness to all these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon!”
Amen! Come, Lord Jesus! 21 May the grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s holy people. (Revelation 22:20–21 NLT)
Are you able to say, “Come, Lord Jesus?”
The Bible deals with the “why and how” to have a relationship with God by giving the history of the Creator and His creation.
How Can We Obey?
Don’t run from God’s plan for your life.
Question 1 of 5
Heaven is a place where there will be many happy reunions and where we will see Christians again who have died before us. Name one person you love who is already with Jesus. How does the hope of seeing this person again make heaven even more wonderful?
Question 2 of 5
What does it mean to you that Heaven is a restoration of the Garden of Eden?
Question 3 of 5
Why is the tree of the knowledge of good and evil not going to be in heaven? What does that mean to us as we live here waiting for the Lord’s return?
Question 4 of 5
It is a serious and sobering reality that all people will spend eternity in heaven or hell. How does the book of Revelation affirm this reality and how should this spur us to share the message and love of Jesus with the people in our life?
Question 5 of 5
How does it make you feel when you realize that ever since the Garden of Eden, God has been pursuing us to have a relationship with Him? Can you name the time when you decided to go all in and follow Jesus?
