I. We are in a war to protect the truth.

A. Jesus taught the Church has in it those who are true believers and those who are not. The Parable of the Sower

The Parable of the Tares…

The Parable of the Mustard Seed… The Parable of the Leaven… The Key to the Parables… B. As we labor in the harvest for Christ we will labor among the tares.

II. We are always fighting for the Truth on two fronts:

A. Against those without.

B. Agains those within.

III. We know that in the last days, as we are certainly in the last days, there will be the apostasy. *(All Turn)

IV. Apostasy is characterized by denial of the truth.

A. It can be a denial, for example, of God's reality.

B. It can be a denial of the true nature of God. It can start there.

1). Gnosticisim 2.) Oprah Winfrey and the New age movement- “the spark of divinity in man”

C. Anyone who calls himself a Christian and denies the true nature of God has defected from the truth.

D. It can be a denial of Chirst’s diety.

E. It can be a denial of Christ’s Second Coming. *(All turn)

F. It can be a denial of God the Creator. (Gospel of Evolution)

G. It can be a denial that God will judge sin. (Gospel of Tolerance)

V. The epistle of Jude looks particularly at those who assault the truth from inside the church. VI. These infiltrators of the church will be able to take advantage of the church because of their “popularity.”

VII. The Devil has a plan to destroy the Church. A. He places counterfeit believers in the Church.

B. The Devil Places counterfeit Bibles in the church.

C. The Devil is presenting a counterfeit christ in the church.

D. The Devil is Preaching a counterfeit gospel in the church.

1). God is a tolerant God. All religions are on a path to God.

2). God is love, therefore he cannot judge sin.

3). In every man is a “spark of divinity” God is within every man.

The Parable of the Tares…

24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: 25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. 26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. 27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? 28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? 29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

B. As we labor in the harvest for Christ we will labor among the tares.

II. We are always fighting for the Truth on two fronts:

B. Agains those within.

2 Timothy 2:14-18 (KJV)

14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers. 15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. 17 And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; 18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.

III. We know that in the last days, as we are certainly in the last days, there will be the apostasy. *(All Turn)

1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, 2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

* This is not about attacks from the outside, but the inside, the much more devastating, the much more subtle, the much more destructive assault on the truth from those who profess to know the truth.

VI. These infiltrators of the church will be able to take advantage of the church because of their “popularity.”

Jude 16 (KJV)

16 These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men’s persons in admiration because of advantage.

Examples: The author of “The Shack” and “The “The Purpose Driven Life” * Four ways the “gospel” of “The Shack” * “Darkens the hearts” of people:

Romans 1:19-24 (KJV)

19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, 1) even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: 21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful

The Author of the Shack subtly, and craftily, challenges what the Bible reveals about God and the Trinity. 2) but became vain in their imaginations, and

The Author of the Shack Darkens the minds of people by using vain, or empty, imaginary characters to change the way you think about God and the Trinity.

* their foolish heart was darkened.

2 Timothy 4:2-4 (KJV)

2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

“The Shack” is nothing more than one of these Fables mentioned here in the Word of God!

3) 22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, * By using the appearance of one who is wise and modern “popularity”, (being on the best sellers list)“having an advantage”, the author of the Shack makes himself a fool and those who fall into his trap of false teaching fools for denying the truth that God has revealed about Himself. 4) 23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

* 4 Ways “The Purpose Driven life” looks Godly, but is deceptive:

* What’s missing from the False Gospel presented in “The Purpose Driven Life? Repentance!

2 Timothy 3:1-9 (KJV)

1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors,

1) heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

The New Age Gospel of “Tolerance” “Political Correctness”

"In a world of political correctness devoid of the rule of law, tolerance has come to mean total rejection of Christianity and moral standards. Modern tolerance redefines words like 'marriage,' 'discrimination,' 'equality,' 'morality,' and even 'absolutes.' The word 'tolerance' as it is used today never includes opposing arguments or competing worldviews. Tolerance has become Orwellian and decidedly intolerant." – Matthew Staver, Dean and Professor of Law at Liberty University School of Law.

Galatians 5:7-11 (KJV)

7 Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth? 8 This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you. 9 A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump. 10 I have confidence in you through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be. 11 And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased.

* We are seeing the gospel the Anti-Christ will preach before our very eyes beginning to be preached in the pulpits of churches across our land even now. Here are the key points:

1). God is a tolerant God. All religions are on a path to God.

DEFINITION OF "WIDER MERCY"

The "Wider Mercy Doctrine" is a belief that salvation can be obtained even when a person has not heard the gospel and does not know Jesus Christ. It is a belief that, somehow, God grants status to persons who are sincere in their religious beliefs, even if those beliefs are false. Therefore, a sincere Buddhist or Shintoist or any other religious adherent can obtain salvation, simply because they are sincere in their belief and desire to approach God. This doctrine, in a slightly revised form, has been the main creed of Universalist belief for centuries. Universalism teaches that all religions are the same and that all beliefs are ultimately pointed toward the one true Deity. It does not matter which religion is accepted or practiced, they are simply different roads that ultimately lead to the same destination. THE DOCTRINE IN PRACTICE

On May 31, 1997, during an interview with Robert Schuller, Billy Graham made statements in a conversation that would indicate that he does not necessarily believe in the singular means by which salvation is granted and the relationship that salvation has to the knowledge of Jesus Christ and the gospel that He has preached. The conversation below occurred between Billy Graham and Robert Schuller, who is the pastor of the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, California and founder of the Hour Of Powertelevision program.

Dr. Schuller begins by speaking to Billy Graham:

Dr. Schuller: "Tell me, what is the future of Christianity?"

Dr. Graham: "Well, Christianity and being a true believer, you know, I think there's the body of Christ which comes from all the Christian groups around the world, or outside the Christian groups. I think that everybody that loves Christ or knows Christ, whether they're conscious of it or not, they're members of the body of Christ. And I don't think that we're going to see a great sweeping revival that will turn the whole world to Christ at any time."

"What God is doing today is calling people out of the world for His name. Whether they come from the Muslim world, or the Buddhist world, or the Christian world, or the non-believing world, they are members of the body of Christ because they've been called by God. They may not even know the name of Jesus, but they know in their hearts they need something that they don't have and they turn to the only light they have and I think they're saved and they're going to be with us in heaven."

Dr. Schuller: "What I hear you saying is that it's possible for Jesus Christ to come into a human heart and soul and life even if they've been born in darkness and have never had exposure to the Bible. Is that a correct interpretation of what you're saying?"

Dr. Graham: "Yes it is because I believe that. I've met people in various parts of the world in tribal situations that they have never seen a Bible or heard about a Bible, have never heard of Jesus but they've believed in their hearts that there is a God and they tried to live a life that was quite apart from the surrounding community in which they lived."

Dr. Schuller: "This is fantastic. I'm so thrilled to hear you say that. There's a wideness in God's mercy."

Dr. Graham: There is. There definitely is."

It is not particularly surprising that Robert Schuller would agree to the "Wider Mercy Doctrine" since his definition of sin is, "...any act or thought that robs myself or another human being of his or her self-esteem." Given that theological slant, Robert Schuller is far away from any orthodox belief.

2). God is love, therefore he cannot judge sin.

* The recent fascination with the “The Purpose Driven Life” This book preaches a gospel without any repentance of sin.

3). In every man is a “spark of divinity” God is within every man.

This is the false gospel of Universalism. This is the gospel that the author of “The Shack” believes. He stated in a interview that he believes that the work of salvation was completed for every man on the cross.

* Universalism, Carried over from GNOSTICISM, in now part of the “New Age” gospel, which will be the gospel of the New World Order that brings the Anti-Christ to power in the last days.
