Which Jesus is the Real Jesus?
Text: 2 Corinthians 11:3–4
4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached,
or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received,
or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.
Introduction:
* According to recent polls, 92 percent of Americans believe in God, but the god they believe in is not the God of the Bible.
I. Mankind’s greatest need this morning is to see the real God- the God of the Bible.
* Most people's god looks like something put together from a cafeteria line. I want a little bit of "look over my sins", and oh give me a whole lot of love everybody. Give me a little bit of tolerance for those people who live wickedly, I don't want to make them mad. I really don't care for this judgment thing, so I think I'll pass on that."
* The clearer our vision of the real God, the more we will be motivated to fear Him.
* The clearer our vision of God, the more we will be willing to obey Him.
* The clearer our vision of the real God, the God of the Bible, the more we will be motivated to trust Him.
* The clearer our vision if the real God, the more we will love Him.
* The clearer our vision of the God of the Bible, the more motivated we will be to worship Him.
* The most important thing about you as an individual is what you think about God. What you think about God will determine the quality of life you will have on this earth.
* What you think about God will determine where you will spend eternity.
* Some people see God as the Great sugar daddy in the sky. They think God exists for no other reason other than to ake them happy.
* Some see God as a cosmic killjoy, always ready to thump someone on the head if they are having too good a time.
* Some people see God as a warm fuzzy old grandfather who is always tolerant of us, and who just overlooks their sin because they are just human after all.
* All these views of God are the result of the postmodern, liberal society in which we live. None of these views of God agree with what the Bible says about God.
* I don't know about you, but I am not going to trust a society as messed up as ours to tell me what God is really like. I would much rather trust what God has said about Himself in the Bible.
* I know enough about myself to not trust what I THINK God is as well. I know that I am full of errors and make mistakes. I can't trust my "personal experience" to determine what God is like.
* Thank God this morning, there is a standard of truth that exists outside of men’s thoughts. The only dependable information about God is found in the Bible.
II. We hear lots of people today talking about "Jesus." But what Jesus are they talking about?
* The Apostle Paul spoke of those who preached “another Jesus…
2 Corinthians 11:3–4 (KJV 1900)
3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.
* Did you know that not everyone that believes in Jesus believes in the right one? Listen to what Jesus said to a group of religious people who said that the taught in His name:
Matthew 7:13–29 (KJV 1900)
13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
* Jesus is saying here that most of the people that claim that they believe in God, or in Jesus are in fact traveling down the highway straight to hell because they are following the wrong Jesus.
15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
* Jesus here says that you can know the people that believe in the false Jesus by looking at their lives. The ones who claim that they believe in Jesus but have not repented and turned from their sin, are the ones who believe in the wrong Jesus. Those who believe in the right Jesus live clean holy lives.
John 14:21–24 (KJV 1900)
21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. 22 Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? 23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. 24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.

10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
3 John 11 (KJV 1900)
11 Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
* Jesus is saying here that not everyone that says they believe in Jesus believes in the right one. The majority of those 92 percent, who say they believe in God, do not believe in the Jesus of the Bible.
24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
* Jesus here is teaching that those who are putting their trust in society’s version if Jesus are like a man who builds his life around things that are not real. Like the sands in the illustration, when the storms of life come, when judgment day comes, everything they trusted in will come crashing down because they put their trust in societies’ Jesus, not the Jesus of the Scriptures.
III. This world does not want the Jesus of the Bible because He has authority.
28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: 29 For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes
* Our society today wants a weak Jesus that does not impose Himself on anyone. People want a Jesus that overlooks and will not judge sin.
* Our sin is an insult to a Holy God. The sins of our society are a slap in the face of a Holy God this morning.
* The Jesus of the Bible refuses to overlook your sin this morning! The Real Jesus, the Jesus of the Bible is offended by your sin and demands that you repent and turn from your sins.
* The people that heard Jesus teach in Matt. 7 were astonished that Jesus spoke with authority.
* Our society is amazed that we would stand up and preach against abortion,
- stand up and preach against the sin of homosexuality!
- They don’t like a Jesus that would preach against having sex outside of mirage!
- They don’t like a Jesus that stands and says that He is the only way to heaven.
*Our society is saying to us “Who gave you the authority to preach against our sin.”
* They don’t like it one bit! They hate it! Just like they hated Jesus because He taught with authority.
* People today say “preacher, don’t preach on people’s sin all the time. They already know they are bad.”
* No they don’t! We watch the nightly news and say to ourselves “those people are bad, not us!” We fail to realize that is us who are an insult to a Holy God!
* People today want to hear about the false God of the Shack, that deceptively preaches a false Jesus and not the God of the Bible.
* People would rather hear the “Rob Bells” of the world twist the Scriptures to preach a false Jesus that does not require us to take up our cross and follow the real Jesus of the Bible.
* People want to hear about the “Purpose Driven Jesus” that wants to use you without demanding that you repent and forsake your sin.
* The Jesus that is presented to people today is almost enough to make you sick!
* People today want hear about a sissified wimpy Jesus that hangs like a limp rag on a cross.
* I despise the picture that is painted of Jesus in our culture of a sissified, needy Jesus!
- He’s just yearning for you!
- He’s longing for you!
- He’s waiting for you!
- He wants friendship and relationship with you!
- He neeeeeeeds you!
- Oh, how you’re breaking is heart!
* NO! He’s gonna BREAK you!
* The Jesus of the the Bible is very God.
* He is self-sustaining!
* He is self-sufficient!
* The real Jesus needs nothing!
* Jesus does not need you!
* He is going to prove it one day because you are going to die and the world is going to keep on spinning at the same rate it was before…
*- And someone else is going to get all your stuff!
*… He’s waiting for your all right! He is waiting to judge your sin!
IV. Will the real Jesus please stand up!
Revelation 19:11–16 (KJV 1900)
11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
* That’s my God! That’s the real Jesus of the Bible!
12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. 13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron:
and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
* That’s my Jesus! That’s the one I serve, not the sissified Jesus that is preached in pulpits around the United States of America today!
* I serve the great God of the universe that gets angry and pours out His wrath!
* The God who demonstrated his wrath over sin and poured it out on his own Son!
* It amazes me that God would hurt and crush His own Son, and then turn around and let you slide!
* Not for a minute!
* The spotless, precious, Son of God bled and died because of the wrath of God!
* He became the satisfaction of the terrible, violent, bloody wrath of God!
* How dare we take that lightly!
* That is the real God! That’s the one against who you have sinned!
* That’s the real Jesus of the Bible!
* How dare we picture Jesus in our culture as a sissified, needy Jesus!
*Listen to the words of a poem by a young black lady entitled “Let me Introduce you to the Real Jesus:”
Let me Introduce the Real Jesus
We got a false Jesus being portrayed
I’ve seen on TV, acting cool, you see He’s changed
A different Jesus from the Bible so
Allow me to bring the real Christ on stage
Not that whack Jesus, the one not based on fact Jesus, too often displayed
The Christ in glory, not the one on your chain
Cause He’s the real Jesus peace that only dwells in the saved
So allow me to paint the picture
Of Christ in the scripture
Preaching faith and repentance
That your too cool Jesus never seems to mention
It seems like He’s down with all the things that you do
But come on, there’s only one Jesus who’s true
So which one will you let reign over you….who?
The millionaire Jesus who just wants to make you rich
Give you some ice, fame, money to prove that you are blessed?
The Black Panther Jesus who throws up His black fist
The Kan-ye West Jesus, who walks with no holiness?
Which one will you choose? I said which one will you choose?
So I think it’s long overdue to have a reintroduction of Christ
So there won’t be any confusion as to which one is right
Because one leads to death, and the other is life
So allow me to reintroduce the Christ
Allow me to reintroduce the Christ
I said allow me to reintroduce the Christ
He’s been distorted by the people and it just aint right
Allow me to reintroduce the Christ
Not someone you can pimp around to propel your cause
Or a name you can proclaim to cover your flaws
Look if this is true than you’re serving a different boss
Your Christ is an idol, and you’re probably lost
Cause, Christ in the scripture, He gave a call to forsake all
Not to wear a cross, but to take up your cross, and follow Him
Cause we’re holding a death sentence, because of our sin
And it’s His mercy that His wrath hasn’t burned times 10
It’s like Sodom and Gomorrah, but a curse within
You see He gives a chance to learn of Him
So that He can be glorified in His rightful place
So if we’re serving this imitation Jesus, dude it’s like a blatant slap in the face
Distorting His grace, and disregarding His sacrifice
For a worldly Christ Like the purpose driven life Jesus
Who prophesies you’ll be a used by Him, before you’re living like Jesus
Or that SAT Jesus who helps you with all your quizzes
Gets you into college, allows you to pass math and physics
The homosexual Jesus who doesn’t see you sinning
The Destiny’s Child Jesus, who sees your Beyonce, and starts grinnin
Which one will you choose?
I said, which one will you choose?
So I think it’s long overdue to have a reintroduction of Christ
So there won’t be any confusion as to which one is right
Because one leads to death, and the other is life
So allow me to reintroduce the Christ
Allow me to reintroduce the Christ
He’s been distorted by the people and it’s just not right
So allow me to reintroduce the Christ
Not someone that we can cover His mouth
So we can continue to indulge in our dirt
As if He doesn’t require us to repent from all sin
To be born again
To never blend in this world
And Broadway is the street that walks the material girl,
She’s got you seduced
She feeds you a phony Jesus, that doesn’t want to save you from sins, but wants to kick it with you
Like Jesus is my homeboy
Or Jesus got my employed
Or Jesus is my decoy
But will the real Jesus please stand up, the one who is true
Cause He’s been locked down, pushed down
And these idols have been erected up, erected up
To the point that if the true Jesus came back right now
Dude, the church would probably hang Him upside down
Pin Him to one of these beams and crucify Him again
Because He’s not down with your sin
And it hurts me to see
How the church will defend their lifestyle
It’s like wow
Don’t we want to know Christ?
The one who willingly gave His Life
To set us free, from our sin you see
And I must do this by any means necessary
See I must never hide the light
So tonight, I’m going to introduce Jesus Christ
I said, I’m going to introduce Jesus Christ
Because He’s been distorted by the people and it just aint right
So I’m going to introduce Jesus Christ
Because one day, dude, He’s coming back
And it’s important that you recognize Him
Cause the scripture talks about that
Many people saying...I’m Jesus, no I’m Jesus, no I’m Jesus
But which one is fact
And you got to get into the Bible to see about that
That He’s coming in the clouds with power and glory
And every knee will bow, testify to His authority
So this Jesus in the scripture better take priority
Not the one that’s accepted everywhere by the majority
When He said the world would hate Him
So why all of a sudden does the world want to date Him
Think about it
Hopefully you haven’t given in to this
Come as you are, stay as you are Jesus
He has a wonderful plan for my life Jesus
You don’t need repentance Jesus
Or all roads lead to Jesus
I hope you haven’t given into this
But you serve the one who is holy
Cause it would be something if on judgment day
The Jesus you’ve been serving, was simply an angel of light
Which covered a legion of demons, masquerading as Christ
All this time serving a Jesus who’s not been pierced in His feet and wrists
Who has no sword coming out of His mouth, no rod of righteousness
To go on day by day by day and willingly miss
Because we’re serving a created image that leads you to the abyss
So let’s get in the scripture
So we’re not fooled by this Jesus, who when your sinning, He’s still with us
Won’t give into this Jesus that the world loves
And He’s cool with your worldly music, worldly TV, you going to the club
Your sex, your lies, your vanity, your phony love
The very things that caused Christ in the scripture to shed blood
So let’s make sure were serving the right Christ
Not a wolf in sheep clothing, that’s got you enticed
The true one
Want to make you knew one
The only begotten Son
So I think it’s long overdue for you to be introduced tonight
Everybody help my welcome Jesus Christ
Conclusion:
Have you placed your faith in the real Jesus, or do you believe in a Jesus that will overlook you sin. My friend, if you want to ever see Heaven, you will have to repent of sin and turn to the real Jesus, the Jesus of the Bible for salvation.
