John 1:1–14 NKJV
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. 6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9 That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. 11 He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

The Word Became Flesh

The Word Became Flesh - This is the Christmas story
In The beginning - there was only The Word - That is, There was God - and only God, and the only manifestation of that was His Word
The only voice - The Word - was God
The Word was God -
God is Spirit - invisible - When manifest in physical form, as Word - the Word is God
When manifest in physical for as Man, the Word becomes man - Jesus Christ
Through this Word - through Christ - everything was made that was made
He was there in the beginning with God, becasue He was God
John 17:1–5 NKJV
1 Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You, 2 as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him. 3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. 4 I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do. 5 And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.

In Him, Was Life.

That breath of Life that God breathed into Adam’s nostrils was from Him - His Spirit
That Life was the light of men
whatever good, whatever life that is in you, is from Him - He is the giver of every good gift
The Light of men - the good, the truth - the way of salvation and eternal life
so much that we cannot see without “light”
He is that Light
This light shines into the darkness (the confusion, the evil, the deadness of men’s heart’s, the lies that obscure)
His truth shines into the lost hearts - those seeking ---
every person knows there is something more -
Every person either hungers for Him, or suppresses that hunger
There is darkness in the world - There is a veil - a blindness
If the gospel is hid - it is hid to them that are perishing

The Light Shines Into Darkness

The Light shines into darkness - and the darkness does not comprehend it
Comprehend represents a- slight wordplay here
Comprehend = Katalambano: to lay hold of, to take, to seize for ones self, to overtake, to take prisoner, to capture,
This is such a beautiful picture of what happened
Jesus came into the world - light into our darkness
the darkness did not understand Him, or the Gospel - or the light that He brought
the Darkness could not overcome Him, or His light
the darkness could not overtake Him, could not come over Him, could not lay hold of Him - could not stop the light
But as many as received Him....
Every one who desires His light, can come out of darkness, can lay hold of eternal life!
His Light is still shining into darkness today.
whatever darkness is clouding your life today - His light is right here right now
whatever darkness overshadows your future - His light shines into it
whatever darkness is confusing you about anything - His light shines into it Now
The True Light - giving light to every man coming into the world
this light is available to every person alive in the world -
God so loved the world
whosoever -
this light is available for more than your salvation to heaven -
this light is available for every area of your life --
your physical needs
relationships
peace of mind/ mental health
your education and career
your family
your health and healing
and any other need you may have
For every person- today and forever

He Came to His Own

He was in The World - and the world was made by Him
He did not come to someone else’s land to conquer it, or persuade it
The world was made by Him -
He came unto His Own
He could have let it go, having been rejected already -
But He loves us so much- He came to His own
Yet His own did not receive Him-
They did not recognize Him -
And many who did chose to reject Him
And people are still rejecting Him today - even His own
Just as there were many Jews then who were His own, and did not receive Him;
There are many Christians today, who do not receive Him
though they claim to be His, their ways are far from Him
AS Jesus said to the Jews, they honor Him with their mouth, but their heart is far
Their own traditions had replaced the commandments of God
We are His Own- have we received HIM?

As many as Received Him

But every one who received Him - received the power to become children of God - still do
Every one who “receives” Him
Have you received Him?
Will you receive Jesus Christ today?
Romans 8:16–18 NKJV
16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. 18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

The Word Became Flesh

This is the Christmas story that we are celebrating this season:
This eternal God, who is Omnipotent, and omniscient and Omnipresent, who spoke into the void of infinite space, which living Word created everything that is, ever was, or ever will be
This Word, has become flesh and blood
He chose to live among us - to be affected by all the things that affect us
to endure suffering, temptation, joy and laughter, crying and sorrow. Hunger and pain,
to set for us and example of sinless life and love.
We have the proof of this in His legacy, in the Word, in history, and in our hearts.
We have beheld His glory!
He is full of grace and truth!
Behold His Glory
reflect His Glory!
