Matthew 1:18–25 NKJV
18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. 19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. 20 But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” 22 So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: 23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” 24 Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife, 25 and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And he called His name Jesus.
(Introduction)

How we Handle Ourselves When We Are Wronged Tells us Where We Really Are Spiritually.

Matthew 1:18 NKJV
18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit.
Joseph and Mary are engaged, but not in the way that Americans would understand but not all together unlike engagements in the middle part of the 20th Century.
Notice in Matthew 1:18, betrothed. but before they came together.
an engagement in the Hebrew culture is made before witnesses. to break an engagement would take official legal action.
Joseph now has a problem.
some one has shoplifted his garden of Eden.
Ephesians 4:2 NKJV
2 with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love,
This proves the Virginity of Mary and the divinity of Christ.
Joseph is a man of great honor.
rather than protecting his relationship, he is more concerned about righteousness, rather than self-righteousness.

Joseph the thoughtful.

Matthew 1:20 NKJV
20 But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.
how much time do we spend meditating on things?
as we live in a fast world we have to s-l-o-w d-o-w-n to see God.
most of the time we don’t allow ourselves the opportunity to think.
Joshua 1:8 NKJV
8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
to consider — verb. to give careful thought or consideration to something.
Joseph was giving careful thought to the situation.
he was not reactive he was reflective.
how would our lives be different if we would consider things rather than react to things.
we are called to meditate on the Law.
we will make our way prosperous.

Joseph the Obedient.

Matthew 1:20–24 NKJV
20 But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” 22 So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: 23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” 24 Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife,
