Awake and Ready
“Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.
Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them,
but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.
“And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’
Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps.
And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’
But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’
And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut.
“Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’
But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’
“Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.

We are to live in the light of the kingdom of heaven
King Jesus will return, receive His bride (the Church), and set up His kingdom
Those who are wise will be awake and ready when He comes
It is Time to Awake out of Sleep
It is Time to Awake out of Sleep
Our salvation is nearer than when we first believed
And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.
So that Christ will give us light
Therefore He says: “Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light.”
It is Time to Awake to Righteousness
It is Time to Awake to Righteousness
Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame.
The unsaved are still in darkness and do not have the knowledge of God that, through faith, leads to salvation. Believers are responsible to live consistent with the light so that the light might shine through them to those still walking in spiritual darkness. Believers are to be witnesses of God and of Christ, not only in what they say, but in the way the live.
It is Time to be Ready
It is Time to be Ready
The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.
Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy.
But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.
To cast off the works of darkness
Repent of sin, compromise, and lies.
Get rid of sinful materials and substances
Avoid the gateways of temptation: make no provision for the flesh
To put on the armor of light
Be alert and watchful against the enemy
Utilize God’s weapons and protective armor
Don’t give the enemy any ground or opportunity against you
To walk wisely
Stop making foolish decisions with your life
Stop wasting the time, talents, and treasure that God has given you.
Stop making excuses for doing what is wrong
Stop procrastination doing what is right
Be wise. Invest your fleeting time, talents, and treasure into what is eternal.
To know and do the will of God
To seek to please God rather than self
To redeem the time
An urgency in mission
The mounting obstacles of evil
Our mortality, our limited time to do God’s will
Our need to regain lost ground
The expectation of the Lord’s near return

To be Filled with the Spirit
To be continually filled with the Spirit for inspiration and power
To walk in the Spirit rather than in the flesh
