Move 1- There is so much pressure to see things in black and white. The world is grey, wisdom helps us thrive in the grey.
Move 2- This text says flourishing awaits students of wisdom.
Move 3- Learning wisdom entails learning obedience. Obedience has a lot of baggage.
Move 4- Loving learning invites others into the process.

First Sentence- In a world that’s so black and white is gray still a color?

#1 What does it risk if they fail to hear from me?

Learning to be wise is a process. Wisdom is gained through experience not gained a lottery.The invitation from Proverbs 2 is to settle in and enjoy learning to be wise.
Learning to be wise is just as important as being wise. The “How” is as important as the “What” The journey toward wisdom is as important as the destination of wisdom.

#2 What Am I asking them to Do?

Cultivate a teachable heart through obedience (v 1-4)
Guitar tuner
Eccl and Obedience talk
Jesus and learners talk
Just like we train for our jobs
Just like we train for our health, we need to train to be with God
Obedience is listening and responding appropriately
Meditate- read chapter 2 all week
Practice gratitude to cultivate a teachable heart (v 5-8)
Wisdom helps you to see God’s care for his people
Revelation and discovery
what we find is what he gives.
knowing the lord is knowing how to live.
receiving wisdom requires effort but comes from relationship
Cultivate gratitude through simplicity

#3 Why won’t they do it?

1. We’ve experienced authority that wasn’t life giving. We’ve been hurt or wounded by someone who was in charge. 2. We’re Americans. Ever since the French Revolution rebellion has been in the air. We need to deal with some road blocks then we’re off to the races.
Obedience is hard
We are training
We’ve been wounded by harmful or selfish authority.

# 4 What are the next steps

Last sentence- It’s hard to walk in the gray, but we’re not walking alone. God is with us as we learn to obey. He loves us when we fail. He helps us makes tweaks and carries us all the way.
