God is a God of restoration.
A few weeks ago I was spending time reading the Bible and praying. Father God begaen to speek to me through Amos 9. I’m not going to read the entire chapte to you but I will explain a little of what is going on.
The first ten verses God is talking about how he is going to come and destroy Isreal. He uses the example of shaking them like in a siv but no one will pass through. So in a siv bakers use it to make sure all the lumps are out of the flower before mixing it with the other ingredaints. But, all the flower eventually passes through the siv. In this case the Lored is saying that He is going to shake the nation of Isreal but not on person is going to pass through they are just going to continue to be shaken.
It seems like in this first verses that total distruction is coming for Isreal. But not all the people in Isreal are evil and turning from the Lord. So what is the Lord going to do with these peole. The people who have made it through the sifting, shaking, and trials? Well the next 5 verses talk about that.
Amos 9:11-15. (read this)
Restoration- Those who make it through the shaking are going to be restored.
The Father began to talk to me bout these verses and how the season is here where he wants to restore not only people but relationships. Our God is a God of restoration of people and relationships. The Father is going to repair and raise up the relationships that have been damaged. He is going to build up relationships like in the days of old.
I feel like there is a key to unlocking this restoration power that the Father wants to release to us.
The key is repentence.
Lets look at Matthew 4:17 (read this)
The first words out of the mouth of Jesus were “repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand”.
Some of these realationships that we have lost, have stayed lost becasue we have unforgiveness in our hears. We have to forgive those who have hurt us. We have to repent from unforgiveness.
When we do this the Lord is going to honor this and restoration is going to begin.
There are many example of restoration of people and relationships in the Bible but I would like to talke about 2 of them. One in the Old Testiment and one in the New Testiment.
John 21
Read vs 15-17
Just a few days before Jesus asked Peter these questions, Peter denied knowing Jesus three times. God cares about the relationship more than the betrayal. But you can see that Peter had repented and the restoration could happen.
Genesis 3:8
After Adam and Eve ate the fuit of the tree and they new sin and shame, God came looking for them. He knew what they had done and he knew where they were but yet he came looking. He desires realationship and restoration. God then makes clothes for them because a relationship and honesty to with God is more important then any sin.
Cicle back to Amos 9:13-15
Not only is God going to bring restoration to you but he is going to pour out his blessing on it.
