Intro

Piece of paper, blind spot.
We all have a blind spot. It is a place, right in front of our eyes, that none of us can see.
If a wasp was sitting in that spot, you would not see it and get stung right in your eye.
Today i want to tell you about a blind spot we all have. Its right in front of our eyes and we should see it clearly, but most people simply cannot see it.
And it makes a big difference. This blind spot actually affects every thing that we do see. And Jesus told us that if we fix, what is hiding in our own blind spot we will be able to see everything else, all of our circumstances and relationships much more clearly.
Jesus said:
Matthew 7:5 NASB95
5 “You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.
So by this we know that people who do not rectify their blind spot do not see clearly.
This is a problem.
Life is hard. Navigating life is like navigating a tough obstical course. Walking on a beam, climbing a rope, scaling a wall - these are all very difficult things to do. But imaginbe how hard the already difficult obstical course would be if you had to do it with goggles filled with water.
In the same way, life can be incredibly difficult, and nlot seeing clearly makes thus difficult life almost impossible.
What is in our blind spot that when we fix it, leads us to clearly see the world around us?

You are in your blind spot.

Matthew 7:5 NASB95
5 “You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.
Do you know what is hiding in your blind spot? You are.
Our acyute powers of observation and deduction that we use to analize, judge, criticize and condemn all those around us, we never turn inwards to ourselves and begin jusdgment where it belongs.
Judgment starts at home.
1 Peter 4:17 NASB95
17 For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?
Before we can judge the world, jusdgment must first begin with the church.
Before it can begin with the church it must start with the family.
Before it can start with the family it must start with the individual - YOU.
Faily to do so results in frustaration, hurt and dispondency. Not to mention it is hypocritical.
You pointing your finger at someone or something else for lifes harships is like the fat beer belled man at the bar who shouts at the wing for dropping the ball in a game of rugby. He wouldnt even make it out of the locker room in his state, but he gets angry at the player.
We get upset at the state of our country and hurl insults at our leadres. But the church cant even get a prayer meeting going.
We get upset over telkom because we had no internet for a day but you cannot even get your own child to do their homework.
You get angry at goverment for ordering an expiring batch of vaccines yet you cannot even fast for 3 days.
It truly amazins me how people whos own lives are in an auuter mess, parents not speaking to children, fathers looking at porn in the dead of night, children having sex out of marriage, how these people thing and claim to have the solution to the govertment, the neighborhood, the church and everyone elses problems.
When Jesus had the 12 disciples around him and said one of them was a devil, they each, including Judas said:
Matthew 26:22 NASB95
22 Being deeply grieved, they each one began to say to Him, “Surely not I, Lord?”
To many christians are just like Judas.
Jesus says “There is evil being done” our responce: “Surly not I”.
Jesus says “There is to much pride” our responce: “Surly not I”.
Jesus says “My people neglect my word” our responce: “Surly not I”.
Eyes that can see the smallest of splnters in others, yet blind the logs in their own.

Where it all starts

You want to fix the world, fix the individual countries.
You want to fix the countries, fix the church.
You want to fix the church, fix the families.
You want to fix your famiuly, fix yourself.
We are commanded to examine ourselves.
1 Corinthians 11:28 NASB95
28 But a man must examine himself, and in so doing he is to eat of the bread and drink of the cup.
That wored examine means to look closley, to go through with a fine tooth comb, to investigate.
Go through your life and find out all the things that cause you pain or cause others pain and find out which ones of those you have the power to fix.
You cannot fix the wastful spending of the SA goverment - but you can fix your wastful spending by comming up with a budget and sticking to it.
You cannot fix the chaos in the world, but you can fix your own messy, untidy, depressing desk.
You cannot fix your friends or colleges rocky marriage, but you can fix yours by listening, being patient, being kind and forgivness.
You cannot fix the evil in the world, but you can fix your own spirtiuality by being devoted, reading the bible daily, praying daily and attending church regulary.
If you fix 1 rthing about your self in 1 week, then the next in another week. In just 1 year, you are 57 times better than when you started.
And:
You will find that your church is a place of refuge from ther worlds evil. You wuill find that your buyisness is a refuge from the worlds corruption. You will find that your family is a safe haven from the worlds chaos.
All because judgment began with you.
Matthew 7:5 NASB95
5 “You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.

Challange

i want to present to you a challange. To identify 10 things that you are not happy with. They could be financial, spiritual, relational, marital, habitual.
10 things that you are not happy with in your life, and they must be 10 things that are actually in your direct power to change.
Dont be a miss universe candidate and wish for world peace. You are not going to bring workd peace, but do you know what you can bring? Family peace.
Find 10 things that you can fix, from cleaing your deask, writing up a budget, making a promise to spend more time with your family, stop saying hurtful things when you are angry or upset.
Bring these things to God.
Proverbs 16:3 NASB95
3 Commit your works to the Lord And your plans will be established.
And spend 1 week for the next 10-12 weeks fixing 1 one them each week.
Ignore all the other splinters you see in other people, just focus on your logs.
And see how powerfuly the Lord will work in your life.
You will have 10 less problems to deal with, in turn your marriage or family will have less problems to deal with, your church will less problems to deal with.
Life is always going to hard, but at least you will see clearly all the obsticals you must face, and you can face them with courage and faith.
