Ellen Yvette Jones, age 72, of Elkhart, passed to her eternal home in Heaven on Tuesday, the 9th day of February 2021, in Lufkin, Texas.  She was born on the 21st day of April 1948, in Houston, Texas, to parents Alvin Lee Cain and Dorothy Lee Stallones Cain.
Mrs. Jones was born and raised in Houston, Texas.  Upon graduating high school, she moved to Nacogdoches, Texas, where she enrolled in Stephen F. Austin State University and received her bachelor’s degree in Education.  Mrs. Jones then married and started her family.  Mrs. Jones enjoyed crocheting and going to church and went as often as possible until her health declined.
Mrs. Jones is preceded in death by her parents Alvin Cain, who passed away in 2020 and Dorothy Cain who passed away in 2017, and brother, Robin Cain.
Mrs. Jones leaves behind her husband Davey Jones; twin sons, Samuel Brame and Daniel Brame, and son, Jason Roy Brame and fiancé Mellissa; sister, Shirley “Jan” Cain; brother, Jon L. Cain and wife Lorlee; and grandchildren, Lauren, Dustyn, Jacee, K.J., Cobrin, Bridgette, Haley, and Jordan.
Also survived by Davey Paul William Jones and his children; Katie Bilbrey and her three children Elijah, Annaleesa, and Alexis; Dakota Jones and her two children Leelan, and Emerson; and Dylan Jones
Charlotte Penney Brewer and her children Constance, Coryn, and Kenzie
When we were here in December for Mr Cain’s memorial, we read a scripture that perfectly described who he was. I feel the same about the one we’ll read today for Mrs. Ellen:
Proverbs 31:25–31 ESV
Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.” Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates.
One of the things I was most impressed by was her desire to see the gospel go out. She had a heart for missions and loved educating our church about what was happening around the world with our missionaries. That kind of desire comes from a strong appreciation of what God had done for her. And it comes from a firm foundation her own parents gave her.
Mrs Ellen was an incredible human and I’m blessed to have known her. I look forward to seeing her when I get where she has gone.
When we miss one who is gone, we should take the time to grieve. It is part of the healing process. God wants us to be whole and not allow grief to consume us. But remember, part of being whole is knowing Him.
While we are grieving in this time, let’s remember who Mrs Ellen was to us. The memories we hold will help us. But I’ll encourage you to also remember each other. Reach out and check on each other. Send a text or make the phone call. Stop by and spend some time. You are family and family helps us heal.
What will you take from the life she lived? How will you benefit from what was important to her? Here’s one more scripture to help us process that:
2 Timothy 1:5 I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.
Does it live in you? Does the sincere faith in Jesus Christ Ellen had also live in you? You know she would want that. Can I pray for you about that?
