FAITH You Can Make It

Christianity is all about believing
You do what you believe, but don't necessarily believe what you do..
Your faith, or you viewpoint of life
You attract what you believe..... good or bad....

1. BELIEVE YOU CAN MAKE IT!

Mk 9:23 Everything is possible for him who believes.
Mark 9:23 NIV
23 “ ‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”

Moving In the Right Direction Requires You to Believe That You Can

... WHAT WAS OUR STORY FROM THIS POINT)
You have to choose to believe there is a way for your marriage to be better...

The Me I See Is Then Me I'll Be

If you don't believe there is a way, You won’t even begin to try.
You must accept your marriage can be better.
Other marriages have made it... even when it looked impossible.
Mat 21:18-22 If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.
Matthew 21:18–22 NIV
18 Early in the morning, as Jesus was on his way back to the city, he was hungry. 19 Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, “May you never bear fruit again!” Immediately the tree withered. 20 When the disciples saw this, they were amazed. “How did the fig tree wither so quickly?” they asked. 21 Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. 22 If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”
So the question is..., how do you believe?

2. HOW DO YOU BELIEVE?

1. Faith Comes by Hearing The Word

Rom 10:17  .. Faith comes by hearing
Romans 10:17 NIV
17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.

2. Faith Comes by Receiving the Word

James 1:21  Receive the engrafted Word

3. Faith comes by Renewing Your Mind with the Word

Rom 12:2  Transformed by the renewing of your mind
Romans 12:2 NIV
2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

The Me I See Is That Me I'll Be

3. HOW TO APPLY FAITH IN YOUR MARRIAGE

1. Be Fully Persuaded

Rom 4:18-21  Abraham was fully persuaded that God had the ability to do what he had promised.
Romans 4:18–21 NIV
18 Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” 19 Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead—since he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah’s womb was also dead. 20 Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, 21 being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.
Heb 11:17-19  God can raise the dead!
Hebrews 11:17–19 NIV
17 By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had embraced the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son, 18 even though God had said to him, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.” 19 Abraham reasoned that God could even raise the dead, and so in a manner of speaking he did receive Isaac back from death.
Rom 12:2  You will be transformed by the renewing of your mind
Romans 12:2 NIV
2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

2. Ask God for Wisdom and Understanding

You do not have a marriage problem, but rather a wisdom problem.
James 1:5-8  Ask God for wisdom.
James 1:5–8 NIV
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. 6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.
Prov 4:7  Wisdom is supreme
Proverbs 4:7 NIV
7 The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.
Gain the principles of marital success

3. Act like you believe

Many hear about what they should do.. Only a few put it into practice.
Mat 7:24-27  Hear God's word and put it into practice.
Matthew 7:24–27 NIV
24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
Luke 11:28  Blessed are those who hear and obey.
Luke 11:28 NIV
28 He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”
James 1:22-25  Do not merely listen to the word.. Do it!
James 1:22–25 NIV
22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.
How do you fix your marriage?
By choice, start doing the things you did at first
– Go on dates
– Buy her flowers
– Speak loving and kind words
Rev 2:4-5 Repent and do the things you did at first
Revelation 2:4–5 NIV
4 Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. 5 Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.

4. Be Willing to Endure the Trial

All marriages have times of trial
Trials have great benefit
James 1:2-4  Consider it joy.
James 1:2–4 NIV
2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
1 Pet 1:3-9  You are receiving the salvation of your souls
1 Peter 1:3–9 NIV
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, 5 who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7 These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 8 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9 for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
There are many ways to fail, but only one way to succeed.

5. Never Give Up!

Gal 6:9 Don't give up! At the proper time you will reap a harvest
Galatians 6:9 NIV
9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
