The Gift You Did Not Know You Wanted.
Father has been known to give gifts to His children they did not know they needed or wanted.
Jesus is a gift that people do not know they want.
Jesus gave forgiveness of sin when they were asking for physical healing.
Elisha was plowing the fields and did not know he could or wanted to be a prophets disciple.
The disciple were looking for a way to feed 5000+ people and they overlooked the 2 fish and five loaves. They did not know that the 2 fish and five loaves is what they wanted because it did not match what they thought they needed.
Examples:
US and our marriage.
Father wants you to be ready for gifts that you did not know you wanted.
This is in preparation for making you into a gift you did not know you wanted to be.
The bigger kind of gift is when Father shapes you into what you did not know you wanted be.
Matthew 4:18–19 NASB95
18 Now as Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon who was called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. 19 And He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
Jesus gives you a promise of what you did not know you wanted.
Then he helps you become what you need for that promise to be fulfilled.
John 21:15–17 NASB95
15 So when they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Tend My lambs.” 16 He said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Shepherd My sheep.” 17 He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Tend My sheep.
We are in a move where God is shaping us into what He looks like.
We are being made into His word made in the flesh.
When people read our life we will be known as the people who God is like.
Father told me to prepare you for gifts that you did not know you wanted.
This means we must be open to ways of getting gifts we may be closed to the idea of.
Examples:
Young men and women who have a big list of musts for their future spouse.
Food you did not know you would like because you were never open to try.
God wants to show who He is through your life in ways you have not been open to or even wanted to.
Closing:
Father wants you to be ready for gifts that you did not know you wanted.
This is in preparation for making you into a gift you did not know you wanted to be.
This Week’s Challenge:
Share where you have been given something you did not know you wanted before.
Jesus, show open my eyes to see the gift you have for me?
Would you open my eyes to see the gift I am for you and others?
Romans 5:15–17 NASB95
15 But the free gift is not like the transgression. For if by the transgression of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many. 16 The gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned; for on the one hand the judgment arose from one transgression resulting in condemnation, but on the other hand the free gift arose from many transgressions resulting in justification. 17 For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.
1 Kings 19:19–21 NASB95
19 So he departed from there and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, while he was plowing with twelve pairs of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth. And Elijah passed over to him and threw his mantle on him. 20 He left the oxen and ran after Elijah and said, “Please let me kiss my father and my mother, then I will follow you.” And he said to him, “Go back again, for what have I done to you?” 21 So he returned from following him, and took the pair of oxen and sacrificed them and boiled their flesh with the implements of the oxen, and gave it to the people and they ate. Then he arose and followed Elijah and ministered to him.
