What else died with Jesus on the cross?

I have been hearing God about Easter for a few weeks now.
One thing that has been ringing in my ears and spirit is that more than Jesus died on the cross.
Hope died on that cross.
More accurately hope in a specific way Jesus was going to save us died on that cross with Him.
I would say that our false expectations of Jesus had to die so that what He truly is could rise with no expectations.
Jesus rose from the dead and that is so unexpected that it shocks our minds to be open to anything.
This is part of what Jesus did by rising from the dead.
Examples of what died:
Jesus was not the warrior they thought was coming to destroy evil.
Jesus was not the king that would be in power to change their situation.
Jesus was not going to help them anymore.
Jesus was not going to do it for them anymore.
The way they experienced Jesus for 3 years was now dead in a tomb.
They were not the person they wanted to be for Jesus.
Jesus is not indestructible.
What else is dying now so that we can get rid of expectations that are not God’s plan?
I personally believe the church is going through this kind of dying all over the world.
Jesus’s ekklesia is not dying, but maybe the way she has operated is.
The way we think church has to be.
The way we have experienced God in the past.
What do I need to let die and release in my life?
Maybe a false image of yourself that is either thinks to little of yourself or to much of your self.
Peter was letting the image of he could prove he was a good pic on his own.
Peter wanted to be the best disciple, that image just died on the cross with Jesus.
That image died when he denied Jesus like he said he would not.
Whatever he saw himself as when Jesus said you will deny me to, that image was his idle.
False image of self needs to die on the cross with Jesus.
The disciples were hiding for their lives on Saturday and Sunday morning.
They were probably not wanting to be reminded of their disappointment that is why they were not at the tomb with Mary and Mary
When we are disappointed we tend to not want to be around anything that reminds us of that disappointment.

Be Like Mary!
John 20:1–18 NASB95
1 Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came early to the tomb, while it was still dark, and saw the stone already taken away from the tomb. 2 So she ran and came to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him.” 3 So Peter and the other disciple went forth, and they were going to the tomb. 4 The two were running together; and the other disciple ran ahead faster than Peter and came to the tomb first; 5 and stooping and looking in, he saw the linen wrappings lying there; but he did not go in. 6 And so Simon Peter also came, following him, and entered the tomb; and he saw the linen wrappings lying there, 7 and the face-cloth which had been on His head, not lying with the linen wrappings, but rolled up in a place by itself. 8 So the other disciple who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed. 9 For as yet they did not understand the Scripture, that He must rise again from the dead. 10 So the disciples went away again to their own homes. 11 But Mary was standing outside the tomb weeping; and so, as she wept, she stooped and looked into the tomb; 12 and she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been lying. 13 And they said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him.” 14 When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, and did not know that it was Jesus. 15 Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?” Supposing Him to be the gardener, she said to Him, “Sir, if you have carried Him away, tell me where you have laid Him, and I will take Him away.” 16 Jesus said to her, “Mary!” She turned and said to Him in Hebrew, “Rabboni!” (which means, Teacher). 17 Jesus said to her, “Stop clinging to Me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I ascend to My Father and your Father, and My God and your God.’ ” 18 Mary Magdalene came, announcing to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord,” and that He had said these things to her.
Mary showed up at the tomb because of her love for Jesus.
Peter and John showed up more than likely because they were upset that someone would steal Jesus’s body.
What will I add or keep doing because I love Jesus?
I have to keep believing that Jesus wants to free people from what holds them back from being who He made them to be.
I have to keep praying for people because I know Jesus loves them.
I have to keep having hard conversations with people when they are at those key moments of truth that Jesus sets people free.
I will keep setting the table with what Jesus is giving me to see who comes to the table and eats the bread that Jesus gives.
I will encourage people when they are down and or afraid to keep going. Because that is what Jesus keeps doing to me.
In this waiting place, what are you grateful for?
Cancel culture is opposite of the grateful culture of heaven.
The way the disciples experienced Jesus for 3 years was now dead in a tomb.
Were they grateful for their time with Jesus? or Were they always looking to what was not happening yet or what they wanted to be.
After you let the image you hope to become die on the cross with Jesus you can be thankful for your time with Jesus now.
Maybe your eyes will open and see many things He is doing for you, through you already.
Jesus is always up to something when it looks like nothing is happening.
It looked like Jesus was dead in a tomb, but He was up to something.
It looking like Jesus was not helping Lazereth, but He was teaching his people how to trust him no matter how impossible things get.
I asked Jesus what He was up to on Saturday, He said “I was guaranteeing a way for you to succeed in your purpose.
When we think Jesus is not doing anything for us He is working beyond what we can see to work all things together for good.
This Week’s Challenge:
What do I need to let die and release in my life?
What will I add or keep doing because I love Jesus?
In this waiting place, what are you grateful for?

Acts 2:24 NASB95
24 “But God raised Him up again, putting an end to the agony of death, since it was impossible for Him to be held in its power.
John 11:25–26 NASB95
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, 26 and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?”
Matthew 28:1–15 NASB95
1 Now after the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to look at the grave. 2 And behold, a severe earthquake had occurred, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled away the stone and sat upon it. 3 And his appearance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. 4 The guards shook for fear of him and became like dead men. 5 The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. 6 “He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying. 7 “Go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead; and behold, He is going ahead of you into Galilee, there you will see Him; behold, I have told you.” 8 And they left the tomb quickly with fear and great joy and ran to report it to His disciples. 9 And behold, Jesus met them and greeted them. And they came up and took hold of His feet and worshiped Him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid; go and take word to My brethren to leave for Galilee, and there they will see Me.” 11 Now while they were on their way, some of the guard came into the city and reported to the chief priests all that had happened. 12 And when they had assembled with the elders and consulted together, they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers, 13 and said, “You are to say, ‘His disciples came by night and stole Him away while we were asleep.’ 14 “And if this should come to the governor’s ears, we will win him over and keep you out of trouble.” 15 And they took the money and did as they had been instructed; and this story was widely spread among the Jews, and is to this day.
Luke 24:1–24 NASB95
1 But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared. 2 And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men suddenly stood near them in dazzling clothing; 5 and as the women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living One among the dead? 6 “He is not here, but He has risen. Remember how He spoke to you while He was still in Galilee, 7 saying that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.” 8 And they remembered His words, 9 and returned from the tomb and reported all these things to the eleven and to all the rest. 10 Now they were Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James; also the other women with them were telling these things to the apostles. 11 But these words appeared to them as nonsense, and they would not believe them. 12 But Peter got up and ran to the tomb; stooping and looking in, he saw the linen wrappings only; and he went away to his home, marveling at what had happened. 13 And behold, two of them were going that very day to a village named Emmaus, which was about seven miles from Jerusalem. 14 And they were talking with each other about all these things which had taken place. 15 While they were talking and discussing, Jesus Himself approached and began traveling with them. 16 But their eyes were prevented from recognizing Him. 17 And He said to them, “What are these words that you are exchanging with one another as you are walking?” And they stood still, looking sad. 18 One of them, named Cleopas, answered and said to Him, “Are You the only one visiting Jerusalem and unaware of the things which have happened here in these days?” 19 And He said to them, “What things?” And they said to Him, “The things about Jesus the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word in the sight of God and all the people, 20 and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered Him to the sentence of death, and crucified Him. 21 “But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, it is the third day since these things happened. 22 “But also some women among us amazed us. When they were at the tomb early in the morning, 23 and did not find His body, they came, saying that they had also seen a vision of angels who said that He was alive. 24 “Some of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just exactly as the women also had said; but Him they did not see.”
