The Sun's Coming Up
1 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.
Mary Magdalene… the lady out of whom 7 devils were cast...
A woman who had been possessed and controlled by the evil one - but those days are gone...
The oppression
the possession
The hurt, hate has been taken away - because she has met the Savior...
But now - He is gone...
She was there as a follower
She was there at the foot of the cross - faithfully following her Savior...
Now - He has been gone 3 days...
She has retained her love , gratitude, and faithfulness...
She is now - at the tomb -
“…when it was yet dark...”
Dark...
Yes I can understand - it was dark...
The Savior has been:
abused / beaten
cruely / criticized
crucified
Hung on a cross...
She was there...
She did not scatter - as did the Apostles...
Mary - and Mary’s sister
Mary, the wife of cleophas and
Mary Magdalene… these ladies were all there at the cross… (jn19.25)
and now when Mary goes to the tomb...
Sunday morning - the 1st day of the week...
“…when it was yet dark”
You see - it wasn’t the time for the sun to rise...
it was still dark...
But blessed be God - tho the dark days come - we have the glorious promise and truths that....
The Sun’s Coming Up...
Several observations:
1. God can see what you cannot see
the absence of the sun did not mean there was absence of the SON...
We are blinded by the darkness - but the Sovereign plans of the Almighty are never in the dark...
2. The darkness will only shroud us for a determined time...
It’s going to come to an end...

Once again I face satan this morning.
And I battled him all the day long.
But in my weakness God sends reinforcements.
And at sun down I'll sing victory's song.

And the sun's coming up in the morning.
Every tear well be gone from my eyes.
This old clay is gonna give away to glory.
And like an eagle I'll take to the sky.

In a world filled with doubts and confusion.
It's so hard when you don't understand.
But I'm standing on a solid foundation.
And I hold to an unchanging hand.
3. The Lord will reveal himself to us if we wait on him...
9 For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead.
10 Then the disciples went away again unto their own home.
11 But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre,
12 And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.
13 And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him.
14 And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.
15 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.
the Sun’s Coming UP...
The sweetness of the Son - is when he calls your name...
16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.
The Sun’s Coming Up -
It may be dark
It may be drear
It may disheartening
It may be discouraging...
But the Sun’s coming Up...
Jesus’ resurrection has given us hope...
Jesus’ resurrection has given us help
Jesus’ resurrection has given us the opportunity to:
Be saved… a child of God
Why - because of the resurrection
12 Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?
13 But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen:
14 And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.
15 Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not.
16 For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised:
17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.
