Dead to Sin, Alive to God

Resurrection
One of the strongest arguments for Jesus’ resurrection is that His followers did not expect it
I grew up as child basically celebrating the easter bunny and easter eggs. As also in my early adult life.
I put this question to you,

“Can You Be Christian and Not Believe in the Resurrection?” (1 Corinthians 15:14, 17)

1 Corinthians 15:14 (ESV) 14And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain.
1 Corinthians 15:17 (ESV) 17And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins.
Resurrection of Jesus Christ
True Christian preaching is centered on the fact that God raised Jesus Christ from the dead so that believers may have victory over sin and death and receive the blessings of eternal life.

We must continue our belief in this resurrection if we are to continue in our justification (1 Cor. 15:1, 2)

1 Corinthians 15:1 (ESV) 1Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand,
1 Corinthians 15:2 (ESV) 2and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.

We must continue our belief in this resurrection if we are to continue in our sanctification (1 Cor. 15:33, 34)

1 Corinthians 15:33 (ESV) 33Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.”
1 Corinthians 15:34 (ESV) 34Wake up from your drunken stupor, as is right, and do not go on sinning. For some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.
to be secure in these matters, we must have understanding of the Gospel in light of the Resurrection.

The Gospel (Good News): Jesus birth, death, burial, and resurrection!

The gospel rests upon the history of Jesus Christ: his birth, obedient life, atoning death, physical resurrection from the dead and his ascension into heaven.
THE VALUE OF HAVING KNOWLEDGE OF THE SPIRITUAL RESURRECTION OF CHURCH-AGE BELIEVERS
If we Christians know that we have died and have resurrected with Christ, then we can reckon these things to be true, and make them to be true, in our daily lives. A knowledge of these truths is a requisite for living a sanctified life, Rom. 6:1–14.

We are to Know our Position in Christ, 6:1–10

Know first: by position, we are baptized, placed into Christ (vv. 3–5). See also Jn 6:39; Jn 6:44; Ac 26:23; Ro 6:8; 1 Co 6:14; 1 Co 15:20–23; 2 Co 4:14; Col 3:4; 1 Th 4:16; 2 Ti 2:11; See also Ro 7:4; Ro 8:11; Eph 2:4–7; Php 3:8–11; Col 2:12; Col 3:1; Heb 13:20–21

It provides the power to live for God(Ro 6:4)
Romans 6:4 (ESV) — 4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
2 Timothy 2:11 (ESV) 11The saying is trustworthy, for: If we have died with him, we will also live with him;
Being completely united to Jesus Christ (Ro 6:5)
Romans 6:5 (ESV) — 5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.
Romans 8:11 (ESV) 11If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
Colossians 3:1 (ESV) 1If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

Know second: by position, the believer’s old self was crucified with Christ (vv. 6–7). See also Is 53:10–12; Mt 9:6; Jn 15:13; 1 Co 15:3; Tt 2:14; Heb 9:28; 1 Pe 2:24; Re 5:9

Jesus Christ has power over sin and death. His crucifixion defeats the power of sin (Ro 6:6)
Romans 6:6 (ESV) — 6 We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.
Titus 2:14 (ESV) 14who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.
1 Peter 2:24 (ESV) 24He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.

Know third: by position, the believer lives with Christ—now and forever (vv. 8–10). See also Ps 16:10; Jn 2:19; Jn 5:21; Jn 17:2; Ac 2:24; Ac 2:32; Ro 1:4; Eph 1:19–20; Php 3:10

Jesus Christ’s resurrection defeats the power of death (Ro 6:9)
Romans 6:9 (ESV) — 9 We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him.
John 5:21 (ESV)
21For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom he will.
Ephesians 1:19–20 (ESV)
19and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might
20that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places,
Philippians 3:10 (ESV)
10that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death,
