Where is God?

There is so much happening in our world that I often ask this question. Maybe it is just me.
The country of Myammar.
The shootings we experience it seems each week.
Angry people yelling.
Media trying to dictate what we are to believe.
Power. Abuse.

Is God only to be found in Scripture/Stories?

This next question may resonate with some. It partially answers our first question.
A question which comes to mind as I reflect: What does Scripture say about God’s activity today!

The battle: kingdom of earth vs. kingdom of God.

This is the struggle. This has been the struggle since the inception of time.

We need to decide which kingdom.

Each of us must make a choice as to which kingdom we will live out. This is a choice I have had to make every day since November 1994 when I came into God’s kingdom through the salvation of Jesus. But, it is a decision I still must consciously make each day. Some days I make it easier and other days it is a struggle.

What is the kingdom of God?

These next season of preaching I want to highlight the kingdom of God for us. When we are reminded of things we can be renewed. When we are reminded we can be transformed.

Jesus is the king of the kingdom.

This is where we start to answer the question of what is the kingdom of God. If there is a kingdom there is a king, ruler or leader of the kingdom.

The kingdom is alive.

Alive in the present. Today the kingdom of God can be found. Because Jesus is alive the kingdom is alive. If Christ has not risen from the dead his kingdom would have remained dead, taken over by another king.

The kingdom is powerful.

The dispute is over the power of the kingdom. The struggle we face each and every day is one of the use of power, and of power. Which power will we use to meet the demands of the day. The power of the kingdom of earth or the power of the kingdom of God.

Jesus came to set people free.

Thus the kingdom of God is about freedom. Now the kingdom of earth also says you may have freedom. The world says it is a freedom to do whatever you want. However, this is just an illusion. Freedom is not about doing whatever you want but instead it is about realizing who is the giver of all. Freedom is found within the boundaries of God’s law of love and kingdom.

We have power to overcome sin.

The kingdom of God is about releasing the chains, however, we have to want to be set free.

Which kingdom do you want?
