He is risen!

Jesus of Nazareth had turned water into wine, healed the sick, made the blind see and the lame walk. He raised Lazareth from the dead.
He taught with great knowledge.
He spoke as one with great authority.
And he loved the lowly and humble sinners he encountered.
He rebuked the proud, called foolish those that thought themselves wise, even defended a prostitute from the hypocrisy of the religious elites.
He did nothing wrong, ever, but he was arrested, stripped naked, beaten to the point where he was no longer recognizable as a man and he was executed by crucifixion.
He hung around with sinners
Was executed along side criminals
And he was buried in a rich man’s grave.
Luke 24:1–3 NASB95
1 But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared. 2 And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.
They: a group of women including Mary Magdalen, Mary, mother of James, Salome, Joanna and other women.
Luke 24:4–5 NASB95
4 While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men suddenly stood near them in dazzling clothing; 5 and as the women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living One among the dead?

Who is Here?

Followers of Jesus Christ.
Those that believe in the resurrection.
That have repented of their sins, agreed with God and put their faith in Christ, and Christ alone for their eternal salvation.
Haven’t been living like you know you are supposed to.
I pray you are encouraged!
Those that have achieved intellectual accent.
Have not submitted to the Lordship of Christ.
I pray you are enlightened.
Those that don’t believe.
You don’t know but are here seeking answers.
You think were are all nuts for believing in a invisible super spirit.
I pray you are educated to the truth of the Gospel.
Cultural Christians. Going to Church on Easter is what you are supposed to do.
You say that you believe, but you life doesn’t show it.
You are like I was, and good with the good and bad with the bad.
I pray you are impacted by the weight your life and truly understand your need for the Savior.
I am glad that you are here. I also don’t believe that you are here by accident, but by divine appointment.
Understand, I cannot do the things that I am praying for you. Encouragement comes from the Lord. Enlightenment is the work of the Holy Spirit.
I can’t educate you to the Gospel.
1 Corinthians 1:18 NASB95
18 For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
And the impact of the gospel message is between you and God.
I can’t do these things, but He can.
PRAY.

Accepted facts of the resurrection

Mike Winger - Acronym ALIVE

A death by Crucifixion

There is no evidence that anyone ever escaped death when crucified.
First century documentation. Not just the biblical writings.

Ladies found the empty tomb.

Accepted by most sceptic scholars.
Embarrassment to the culture.

Independent appearances of Jesus alive after death.

1 Corinthians 15:3–9 NASB95
3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 6 After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep; 7 then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles; 8 and last of all, as to one untimely born, He appeared to me also. 9 For I am the least of the apostles, and not fit to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
Within 5 years of Jesus’ resurrection.
Five years ago Donald Trump was elected President.

Violence endured by the Apostles.

Cowards after the capture of Christ.
Peter denying him three times.
Hiding from the Romans and the Jews.
Not one mention of the disciples at the Crucifixion or part of His burial.
After the resurrection, they are boldly preaching, enduring beatings, burnings, beheadings, torture and even crucifixion themselves.

Enemies of Christ converted.

James - 1/2 brother of Jesus didn’t believe, but after the resurrection, now suddenly he believes.
Paul - An educated and powerful Jew, who’s passion was to persecute Christians, all of a sudden converts because he says that he sees the resurrected Jesus.
Explanation:
Jesus really lived, really died on the cross, and really rose from the dead.

Alternate theories.

Swoon theory - Jesus really didn’t die.
Twin Theory - That Jesus had a twin.
Mass Hallucination Theory.
Wrong Tomb Theory/Missing Body Theory.
Conspiracy Theory.
In order to not believe in the resurrection of Jesus, you have to, by completely blind faith, come up with another explanation.

So why do some not believe?

Because we suck!.
Because we say that we should love our neighbor as ourselves, but don’t.
Because we admit that Jesus said, Judge not or you will be judged by the same standard, then go around judging everybody, ignoring out own sin.
The late Christopher Hitchens - Judged the existence of God, because His followers Suck so bad.
Taking off in 2nd Gear. I wouldn’t have a Victory, because they don’t have any low end power.
It is a bad argument.
If you believe it, live it.
If you don’t live it, admit you don’t believe it.
False beliefs of people claiming to be a Christian.
Word of faith preachers.
False Healings.
I believe that apostolic gifts ceased after the apostles died.
Revelation 13:13 NASB95
13 He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down out of heaven to the earth in the presence of men.
3. They just don’t want to.
a. They believe all religions are false.
b. We believe all religions are false, except for one.
c. They believe all religions are true.
d. They don’t want to be accountable for their actions.
e. They don’t want to admit that someone they loved may not be in Heaven.

Casual Christian

Matthew 7:21–23 NASB95
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. 22 “Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ 23 “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’
V.P George Bush attended the funeral of Former Soviet Leader Leonid Bresznev. At his funeral was his widow, who was stoic and silent during the entire event. At the end of the service Bush became moved by her final gesture. As the guards were about to close the casket, siting in the Citadel, the center of atheistic power of the Soviet Union, she approached the body of her husband, reached into the casket and traced the sign of the cross on his chest.
In desperation, she hoped there was a life after this one, and believed that life was best represented by Jesus.
There were two thieves that were crucified with Christ. One of them mocked Him, the other understood Him.
Remember me when you come into your kingdom.
Today you will be with me in paradise.
