Acts 2:1-4

i. I’m unable to quote most of those titles
c. We all have the desire to better ourselves
i. Not only self-help but diets, home improvement, fitness
ii. They have one thing in common and it’s their fatal flaw
iii. They all require us to find our inner strength, self, motivation
iv. Let me show you something

It’s the day of Pentecost

i. One of three festivals or feasts that required all Jewish men to come to Jerusalem
ii. Imagine the scene
iii. Jerusalem would have been full of people
iv. Luke takes the time to list many of them in vs: 9&10
v. All the disciples were gathered in one place
vi. Then something happens

A Power from the outside

Acts 2:1–4 NLT
1 On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place. 2 Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting. 3 Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. 4 And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.
ii. They were filled with the power of God

The people where so overjoyed by the Power of God they appeared drunk

Acts 2:17–18 NLT
17 ‘In the last days,’ God says, ‘I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. 18 In those days I will pour out my Spirit even on my servants—men and women alike— and they will prophesy.

41 Those who believed what Peter said were baptized and added to the church that day—about 3,000 in all.

ii. God says I will give you the power to make me great
iii. Our goodness doesn’t come from within us, it come from outside of us
iv. As a believer you have what it takes to do great things

18 Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit,
