Transcript
Introduction: Psalm 2 speaks of an future messianic king who will deal with evil. Psalms 3–7 are a collection of David’s story when he had to hide from his enemies. He cries out to God to deliver him. Psalms 9–14 a group of people who are poor and afflicted call out for the Lord to confront the world empires and vindicate them. Psalm 8 is in the middle of these collections. God uses them to rule the world.

Mankind created from dust, but elevated to ruler.
God elevates the powerless to rule through them.
Conclusion: Matthew 21.1–17 Jesus enters the city, not on a war horse, but a lowly donkey. He is praised as he enters by the poor and lowly. The authorities kill him. The upside down Kingdom of God centers on serving others from a place of humility and powerlessness. This is when God’s Kingdom and power are most on display. What this means for me and you is we are to consistently count others as more important than ourselves (Phil 2.3), outdo one another in showing honor (Rom 12.10), serving one another in humility, and letting the authorities kill us.
