Biblical Marriage

In recent years, the institution of marriage has been attacked in our nation and state as never before in history.

For nearly sixty years the homosexual activist movement has been working to implement a plan to get universal acceptance of the gay lifestyle, scriptures discredited that condemn homosexually, preachers and Christian media silenced, marriage redefined and the legal benefits of marriage extended to any two or more people living together, regardless of gender.

Marriage is one of God’s most enduring and wonderful gifts to mankind.  His plan was revealed to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden and is described in Genesis 2:24, “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife and they shall be one flesh.”  God announced the ordination of the family long before He established the government or the church.  Every civilization in the history of the world has been built upon this concept of marriage.

God said in Genesis 2:18, “It is not good for the man to be alone.”  So He made Adam a helpmate or partner, Eve, and told them to be fruitful and multiply.  God intended for the man and the woman to complete each other.

The sociologist George Gilder discovered in his book Men and Marriage what God already knew.  A man with a good wife will be more content, stable and productive and tends to avoid harmful vices.  Conversely a woman’s deep longings can only be satisfied through a romantic long term relationship with a man.  There are certainly people who live good lives as singles but this is not the norm.  Children also live healthier happier lives when raised with their mother and father.  God has a great plan for the family.  To deviate from that plan invites disaster.

God’s people in God’s churches must stand up and defend Biblical marriage before it is destroyed.  This can be done in several ways:

1) Establish and maintain godly homes.  2) Speak to people in support of Biblical marriage at every opportunity.  3) Vote for and give support to state and national leaders who stand for Biblical marriage.  4) Pray for our leaders.  5) Pray that those supporting the gay agenda would see the truth of God’s Word.

Respectfully submitted,
