Matthew 9:18–26 (KJV 1900)
18)While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.
during the time Jesus was starting his ministry teaching and healing by the sea of Galilee about an year earlier ,but now he is in his second year still teaching and spreading the good news of Gods word , his father great kingdom in heaven all this while healing and giving good signs and news of Gods great powers that was given to him by the Father. so while still teaching this is when the leader came to get help from Jesus!this leaders name is not yet mentioned in matthew but it is in Luke 8:41
so Jairus seeker OF jesus not for jesus to come and morn but to raise his daughter from the dead ! not knowing if jesus could raised the dead because at this point it is not mentioned here in Matthew but with this man faith and worshipping the way he has done new about the prophet Elijah raising the widows son found in 1 Kings 17:17-24
so in his faith he knew that Jesus could raise the dead. but with all the things that jesus did even the people around him misidentified jesus and some call him Elijah:
let us be reminded of how hard this must have been for the ruler to come to Jesus and tell him that his daughter is dead and then to ask him for this type of help!!!!!
19)And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples.
now some of the of the leaders friends that came with him just knew that Jesus wouldn't come but Dr Jesus makes house calls and he went with him and so did his disciples we can call his aides you know a Dr always have good people working with him....
II. now we come to when the Story gets interrupted on their way to this leaders house.
also in mark 5:21-43
20) And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment:
this woman had this issue for twelve long years and no Dr around could help her so when she heard of Jesus was coming all she wanted was to just touch the hem of his garment you the bottom part of the clothing that sewn to keep the garment from looking ragged she knew that with her faith all she had to was touch the hem not him just the clothing he was wearing . this issue she was having caused hemorrhaging from constant bleeding and it has become too much for to handle . so one again with Faith being in the picture she just knew that Dr Jesus could help and this is just adding to the anticipation of the little girl from the beginning of this story weather having a set back would hinder the situation. but it also shows that there is nothing our God cant do.
21) For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.
Now this is what you call true Faith knowing that Dr Jesus can do all things he can heal and save look in Matthew 10:22 ; 19:25
he is our healer and savior all we have to do is call on him. seek him find him and ask him you know the old saying we have not because we ask not>.... and this women knew this thats why she had to touch him any part of him and she knew that she would be healed.
22) But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.
just like that once Jesus knew that someone had touched him and he knew it was a woman and with all his knowing power knew it was and what she was looking for so our great Dr Jesus turned around and said that her faith has made her whole and she was made whole from that hour on just like that. oh what a good God we serve through Jesus all things are made whole>
A CHILD RESURRECTED
23)And when Jesus came into the ruler’s house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise,
He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn.
But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose.
And the fame hereof went abroad into all that land.
