Last week we saw the resurrection of Jesus, this week we finish this chapter by seeing what happens to Jesus after His resurrection.
Jesus is not just a savior for us, but He is also our Lord. These things happen simultaneously.

For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.

Jesus is seated at the right hand of God. What does this position mean?

We can deduce that this is a position of authority. Therefore, if Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father, He is in authority in Heaven

21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.

far above all rule and authority and power and dominion,
Are we speaking of earth? Or Heaven?
The same words are used in Eph 3:10
10 so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places.
so rule and authority definitely speak of the heavenly places, what about the power and dominion?
These words can refer both to natural and the supernatural. It is a more encompassing term.
“power” dynameōs - Ro 8:38 neither life nor death, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers...” BUT Jesus rebukes the Sadducees in Matt 22/Mark 12 with “You are wrong because you know neither the scriptures nor the power of God.”

every name that is named is a term meaning any PERSON who has been APPOINTED
Jesus has authority over every authority
Jesus does not yet fully impose His authority (Eph 2:2)
When comparing to Eph 2:1-2. Who is really Lord here?

While Jesus does not yet enforce His Lordship over all creation (in the way that wickedness still prevails), He does exercise His Lordship over the Church.

The church itself is the body of Christ
If Jesus is Lord, what commands has He given to the church?
If Jesus is our Lord, we must be saved.
17 From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
19 And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
If Jesus is our Lord, we must obey commandments.
15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
21 Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.”
What are Jesus’s commandments? Start with Matthew 5-7.
If Jesus is our Lord, we must make disciples.
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
