We are continue our series this morning Convictions: What We Believe.
Do Christians have nonnegotiable beliefs, and if so, what are they?
This eight-week series looks at eight key topics in evangelical theology that all Christians agree about. Our faith will be challenged as we ask ourselves, “When it comes to my beliefs, what is important and why?”
Last week we talked about the word of God Scripture. The word from God and how the Bible is the inspired word of God. Written over a hundreds of years by different people for vastly different cultures. That gives us a message from beginning to end that remains amazingly cohesive because all Scripture is God breathed. This book was not of human invention It is a gift from God. We do not have to do anything to this book to make it better nor is do anything to make it fit our views.
The bible is a perfect gift from God.
This week we are going to be look at the Trinity and what that means.
so if you have you bible go head and turn to Genesis 1 :1-3 or you can follow along on the screen in just a few moments.
Before we dive into what the Trinity is and how it can be. I have a couple of question for you.

How many Christians does it take to change a lightbulb?

Answer: “Three, but really it is only one.”

Which book of the Bible gives us the word ‘Trinity’?

The word Trinity isn’t found in the Bible.” Nevertheless, we believe in the Trinity—that God is one yet reveals himself in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The term trinity is a human made term to sum up what God is and how God is. It’s a little hard for us to warp our heads around but we can. The idea of that God is three but one can not be found any any other religion in the world. So it would be hard to say that someone made this stuff up.
The big idea is that

There is only one God

This is key has we dive into the Trinity this morning. We have to remember that there is only one God.
Deuteronomy 6:4 CSB
4 “Listen, Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.
Mark 12:29 CSB
29 Jesus answered, “The most important is Listen, Israel! The Lord our God, the Lord is one.

There is only one God

The Trinity does not mean the we worship three different God. We only worship one true God that shows himself in different ways.
lets take a look at what Genesis 1:1-3 says
Genesis 1:1–3 CSB
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness covered the surface of the watery depths, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. 3 Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
We can see Trinity right here.

God created

One God the God, Created the heavens and earth. right here this start off the whole bible. One God not many started it all.

Spirit of God

verse 2 tells us that the “Spirit of God” was there as well, present during creation. Who or what is this Spirit of God? The Bible doesn’t explain.

God said

Finally, in verse 3 we see that God created by speaking. We are reminded of this saying: The New Testament reveals what the Old Testament conceals. John starts off with retelling the Gensis in a different way.
John 1:1–3 CSB
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 All things were created through him, and apart from him not one thing was created that has been created.
John 1:14 CSB
14 The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. We observed his glory, the glory as the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

The Word is Jesus

Matthew 3:16–17 CSB
16 When Jesus was baptized, he went up immediately from the water. The heavens suddenly opened for him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming down on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased.”
With all this being said what does it take to believe in the Trinity.

It takes faith

The mystery of the Trinity confronts us with a leap of faith. Faith is not some that comes easy but with a little faith God can move mountains.

Will you believe it or not?

There is only one God, who exists eternally as a Trinity of three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each member of the Trinity is fully and equally God yet personally distinct from the others
