I. Jesus Has Commissioned Us To A Divine Mandate. (v.19a)

A. The mandate of The Great Commission calls us to “Go”.

1. This verb literally means “as you go

B. This involves not only what we say, how we live!

Matthew 5:13–16 ESV
13 “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet. 14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

II. Jesus Has Commissioned Us To A Divine Message. (v.20)

The Message of the Gospel

A. Jesus Came to Save Sinners.

Luke 19:10 ESV
10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

B. Jesus Came into the world to give His own life.

Mark 10:45 ESV
45 For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

C. Jesus Came To Provide the Only way to the Father.

John 14:6 ESV
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

D. What is the Gospel?

1 Corinthians 15:3–4 ESV
3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,

III. Jesus Has Commissioned Us To A Divine Mission. (v.20a)

Our Mission is to reach the world with the Gospel!

15 And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.

IV. Jesus Has Committed Himself To Us As Our Divine Mentor. (v.18, 20b)

A. We are reminded of His authority. (v.18)

Matthew 28:18 ESV
18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
B. We are reminded of His presence. (v.20b)

I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
