“Corrupting Power”

Luke 15:12-14

I.                   In the hands of a fool, riches become a corrupting power.

A.    Both sons received the inheritance.

B.     But only one was corrupted by it.

To some of you my words may sound harsh. In fact according to the latest psychology, I might be guilty of bruising someone’s ego, or denigrating their self worth.

Yet, I can assure you that my words regarding this position are consistent with the word of God.

Examples: In the wisdom books of the Bible, (Job-Ecclesiastes) “FOOL” is used derogatively, 90 times.

Proverbs 16:22 Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that hath it: but the instruction of fools is folly.

II.                He is a fool that does not heed the Godly teachings of authority.

A.    He proves his inability to handle prosperity, and mismanages the blessing.

1.      He becomes worse than before.

2.      He looses everything he has.

B.     In many cases God intervenes and withholds the blessing, and in others like the case of the prodigal, He allows us to reap what we’ve sown.
