I've hidden your my heart that I might not sin against you, praise be to you. Lord, teach me your decrees with my lips are account laws that come from your mouth. I rejoice in following your stats as one rejoices in his I met at the precepts and consider your ways. I Delight in your decree do not neglect your word and this morning, we're going to be focusing and I were looking at God's walk, a Godly walk that the Believers walk landed. We're looking at the guide and our guide is given to us in the word of God. The work of spirit in us. So it is good to read from Psalm 119. Let's, let's pray. Arms in drawing us closer to knowing you. And in the lives of those, in our community that do not know you, father, we are the life to the community because you live in us, and because of that, we pray that our light would truly shine on those who do not know you that they might see and respond to that light that you showed through our lives. We do also want to remember to pray for those, for all who have needs, but have not spoken them. We know that there are desires that each of us have and we pray that your spirit would be working in our hearts to draw us closer to you, recognizing that when our desires are laid at your feet and in your hands, we get the absolute best response we could ever have. And we thank you for this. Now, father we pray that your spirit would continue to be with us as we lift our voices in, praise and Adoration of you and thankfulness for you and recognize your Mighty power. May you lead us now in Jesus name? Amen.

Precious father almighty Everlasting in Olean true. You are the righteous one, who is above all and we come before you as your servants. But also your son's. We thank you that you bless us in this way. The way thank you for being in our midst and being present with us as we have come to worship, you and fellowship with you. And this time we pray that your spirit would be powerful in each of Our Lives that as your word goes down, it would touched deeply in our hearts and our lots and father is I speak my pray that your spirit would be here in power with me that I would be listening and I'll bang you in every word that comes out of my mouth that others would be honored. Thank you Father. Bless us now are your presents in Jesus name. Amen. What we are working through this process, we're going to take a little break for a couple of weeks as we go on vacation. But then we'll be back to finish up 2nd Peter here pretty soon. We are going to be in 2nd. Peter if you want to go there to chapter one will be there. And we're going to be talking about a believer's guide and the whole idea for each of us understand is that that God gave us something that really is a

To lead us and guide us through all of our lives. And that's his word, but he is also giving you and I something else he's given us, the spirit that gives us wisdom and guidance in this, but it comes with us, being willing to trust him. Through all those experiences, we had a good discussion in Sunday school about you. No faith and following the law or taking our own path and I thought of the story I had ready for you guys today. And I I think it kind of applying. So if you were in Sunday school, maybe this will help and go through some thoughts about how we handle these things. In our lives, you know, Mary and I were spent 7 years in Budapest Hungary. And we were going to take a trip along with the myself Mary. And our niece who was staying with us for three months, while she went to the school that I had over there. And we decided we were going to go to Prague and visit the city there and does. So, after school and everything, we've got in our little Russian Samurai card out, for which was about four hundred and fifty miles away. So we knew we were in, for a long run and we got going up and we crossed over the Danube River into Slovakia and entered, the city of Bratislava, which is the biggest town, in in Slovakia and we knew we had to be rauf and the take another Highway. And so, I was in the right lane, ready to Veer off. And, unfortunately, the Turn off was in the left-hand Lane and so we missed it and I was we got going and it immediately went into residential streets and there was all messed up and I was moving around a little bit, you put some confidence about my ability to kind of work things through and so I was kind of trusting in myself a little bit and I found out that I wasn't getting anywhere. So finally I got off out of the car and went into a store and this isn't Slovakia. Remember, they don't speak a lot of English. So I just said, Faja, which is frog and their language and nine people went like this,

And one person went like this.

And I thought, well maybe I'll send you the 9 people. So I go out to the car and we get in and we get in the car. We start going the way those nine. People told me to go and I, we drove and went out of the city, and we were traveling along, and we got about 15 miles down the road. And I said, we need to stop and ask somebody. And we came to this little town and not go into that. We going to the town and I parked outside the police station in Marion and Julie are waiting in the car. Will I go on in and I get in there and once again I say haha and the policeman doesn't speak any English. He says Deutsch which is German and I know and they kind of motion me to go out in the hallway and wait. And so I went out there for about 15-20 minutes waiting. For somebody to show up that kind of, give me some guidance, this young lady shows up and she says, will follow these two policemen and they'll show you the way out of town and towards frog. And it's so we didn't they down their window as we were getting onto the highway from their town, and we rolled down ours and they say good luck. So, we're heading off the Frog and it is a little bit later than we had imagined because of the time we spent in Bratislava, but we pull into town probably about 11:00 at night and we're taking a look at the map and the hotel that we're going to is above the map. You know, it's not on the map. And so rather than try to have somebody because nobody was up at 11 at night in fraud, we pulled over the side of the road and we prayed and we says the Lord, we have no idea where we're going. Please give us some guidance. And so, we said, okay, Lord lead us and we started going, we went through a construction site and we went through probably six or seven turns and we pulled right up in there was the hotel. We never made a wrong turn in the whole time. We were moving, probably 15 minutes driving and Lord let us right to the hotel. Well, okay, here's a little moral for that. Story of the first in Bratislava, we were trusting in ourselves and literally and other people to give us guidance and wisdom. And, of course, that all foul this up a lot. But when we got to Prague and we had no sense of where we're going, we trust the Lord, and he guided us right to where we needed to go. And sometimes we live, like that way. We trust so much. In what we can do or what others can do for us. That we tend to forget about going to the Lord first and asking him to guide us. You know, there are Lessons Learned as we go along in this life and that was certainly, one of the lessons for Mary. And I, particularly me because I always had the feeling that I could kind of work my way through the different sections, but I couldn't, and we needed the Lord, and the Lord guided. And so, we're going to take a look at that today, God's guidance. And we're going to do it from 2nd. Peter chapter 1 verses 16 through 21, I'll read just the first 3 verses 16 to 18 here. It says, for we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord, Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. He received honor, and Glory from God, the Father, when the boys came to him from The Majestic Glory saying, this is my son, whom I love with him. I am well, pleased, we ourselves or this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain. And remember this was the Transfiguration took place when Peter John and James went up on the mountain, with Jesus to meet with Moses and Elijah and the Lord, the displayed his presence. There is well. What are the things that we need to get into our lives, in the feeling of Our Lives is that we need to be able to trust God. In circumstances and sometimes we just want so much to do it ourselves. And as we talked about in Sunday school again, you know, when we try to do things, our own way, as very many times, religious religion developed in that sense over multiple years, where they begin to do it their way rather than God's way and they get into trouble and find corruption getting in we need to think about it each day, where do I put my trust and God wants us to put our trust in his word and following him. Psalm 117. The wholesome all two verses of it says praise the Lord. All you Nations extol him. All you people's for great is his love toward us and the faithfulness of the Lord endureth forever. Praise the Lord. And you wonder is God really capable of doing all this for us? Can I put my trust in him? Let's look back at God and what he did, you know, he created the heavens and the Earth you ever go outside at night and look up at the stars and think, wow. How Majestic is that? And then realize that you're only seeing a tiny tiny portion of what is actually out there and then you look at the Earth and all the Wonders we see here, and you go buy, that is great. Will God created all of that? And he did it for one thing. for you, and for me, He did it for us. He created all these things. To show us his glory. and His Majesty when I think about that, if he did that much for me, at the very beginning, Isn't going with me and guiding me through circumstances, like finding the right direction, on a highway. Isn't capable of that. Am I willing to trust him for those things? You know, and I ought to be there's times when I still struggle with that and don't do it, but I ought to I activate that should be part of it, you know, Jesus is God's word, you know, when he came among us and then we'll talk about that a little bit, but God sent him here, but he is also God's word, the team to us, the Bible, it comes to us from him.

And Peter wanted them to know that those who wrote particular the new tap. Where I witness has of what Jesus actually did. They saw it and so he wants them to see that in that picture that he gives them, but

Every book written in the New Testament was done. So by something who was an eyewitness or connected with eyewitnesses including Paul who wrote 13 of those books, he was an eyewitness after the fact but he I witness Luke writes these words, Luke chapter 1 verse 2. He says just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first wear eyewitnesses. And surface of the Lord. There were 12 guys who walked with Jesus closely for his time that he spent in Ministry, on this Earth, witnessing all, that he did all the Miracles, all the the words that he spoke, all of those things that they saw him do throughout that time and they expressed it to others. And so we have this book, the new test Cement that is written by the guidance of that comes from those people who saw it. But we also need to recognize that, that they are not only Guided by their own memory, they're also Guided by the spirit of the Living God, and look at that in a little bit, but God came and he demonstrated this, and Peter wants them to recognize that he came. And he talked allowed to people about his son, he actually did it. Three times in Scripture that we know of one was that on the Mount of transfiguration, but remember, when he was baptized And he was baptized by John the Baptist, he was raised up out of the water and allow voice King in Mark 111 in a voice Came From Heaven. You are my son whom I love with you? I am. Well pleased, you know in multitudes heard that voice come from Heaven that God was pleased with him. In the Holy Spirit descended like a dove onto him. So all three were pictured in that that beautiful look. And then they on, on the Mount of transfiguration, you might remember the story, Jesus chose three of his disciples Peter and James and John and he brought them up on the Mount of transfiguration. We don't know exactly which mountain that was. There are several thoughts on that, but but he took them up on this mountain and on that mountain, Jesus. His eternal glory was made along and he was joined by Moses, and Elijah and they spoke together, And as they spoke, the loud voice Came From Heaven, beloved Son. Who am I? Well, pleased, you know, listen to him. Anyway, he goes up on this mountain and Mark 9-3 record this. And he says, his clothes became dazzling. White wider than anyone in the world. Could bleach them, and there appeared before him Elijah, and Moses. And they were talking with Jesus, God's glory was shown there. There was one other time that that we hear the voice from heaven and it was just before he went to the cross, it was very last week of his life. He was going through the process and he was talking with the people and he prays that God would be glorified and God's voice came from heaven. And and it says I have been glorified and I will and will glorify it again that God's glory is made known. And he just does this free times at least all that. We know. So he reveals himself God showing mankind that he is alive and real and wanting to be part of their locks. Let's continue on in 1st Peter, I will read verse 19. We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place until the day Dawns, and The Morning Star rises in your hearts. In other words, Peter was wanting them. The people he was riding to, to be paying attention to what the prophets had to say. Remember, we were talking about the New Testament first off, when God revealed himself, and showed that to the apostles, and to some of the followers like Luke, Who wrote several books of the New New Testament. He revealed himself to these people, but he also revealed himself to the prophets of the Old Testament and he wants the people to understand and know that these are also powerful words. Matthew 5:18 Jesus is speaking at on the, at The Sermon on the Mount and it, he's really just getting into it. But he says these words about the writings of the Old Testament. He says for truly I tell you until Heaven and Earth disappear, not the smallest letter nor the least stroke of a pen will by any means disappear from the law until everything is accomplished. In other words, the Old Testament has a picture towards Jesus coming. 2 *. One time was coming to pay the price for your sins. It sends the next time he comes. We're looking forward to that one. When he will come as king of kings and Lord of lords, but the Old Testament points continually points to that picture, and Jesus wanted the people to understand and know that they need to pay attention to that picture. it is looking forward in life, Peter talks about that in 1st, Peter 1:10, he says concerning the Salvation, this salvation, the prophets who spoke of the grace that was to come to you searched intently and with the greatest care Just imagine that some of the writers of the New Testament, you know, they're writing these words down that talked about, Jesus Christ in the future and what is happening in the world and all of these things. And then they're thinking through at, what does this mean? What is it really pointing towards and you? And I, you know, can look back and say, okay, we know what it wants towards, we can see it from what has happened, you know? So we get to look at it from the other side but they were writing it down and think what is happening what's coming? What is the value of this, in, perhaps, the spirit? Gave them wisdom. And guidance in understanding this, we don't know. Remember that? We we looked at the film 119, a little bit in the reading of the verses read Psalm. 119 is almost exactly the center of scripture. It's almost the center of all the Bible, and it's the longest chapter in the Bible, a hundred Seventy-Six versus pretty incredible, you know what it's about. It's about God's word about reading and understanding and growing and God's word and how valuable and important it is. I don't think it's any that, did God made any mistakes and putting it right? At the very center of his word. In Psalm 119:105 as your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. In other words, this is the guy that I have for, you get to know it, read it, concentrate on it. If you listen to what I read about, what David Road in this song, you can see he is focused on understanding of this word and what what importance it was for his life will, it's just as important for your life and my life is well, we need to know and understand that word. but, We have a difference in our time, you know, the spirit guided the the writers of scripture but they didn't really guide the other people as closely as he guides you. And And I we are guided because of the Holy Spirit lives in those who have trusted him in him as Lord and Savior you know I have the spirit of God in Me And He is guiding me as I open God's words and I really asked him to leave me and help me understand. And so I have that guidance from his word that helps me understand it. So I have two things going for us, you have two things going for you, you have God's word and you have a spirit that wants you to understand it. That wants you to dig deeply into it just want you to focus on that because it really is the guy for our lives. 2nd Corinthians 4:6 says for God who said let light shine out of Darkness, made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God's glory displayed in the face of Christ. You know, as we come face-to-face with Jesus Christ, we have wisdom and guidance for this world that others cannot have because they don't have the power of the scripture working in them in the guidance of the holy spirit leaving them, but you have it. Are you taking advantage of that? Are you spending time and God's word? Are you seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit as you do? So God wants us to God wants us to be guided by his word. Well, that's read the last little portion verses 20 and 21. These are probably the verses that are mostly remembered. When we think about speaking about the word, it says above all. You must understand that no prophecy of scripture came about by The Prophet's own interpretation of things for prophecy. Never its origin in human will, but profits, go youman, spoke from God, as they were carried Along by the Holy Spirit. It was the spirit of God who guided each and every word.

Can you imagine somebody listings of spirit and then kind of going off on their own a little bit in the spirit knocking had no, no, I didn't tell you that changed that yet. It writes Guided by the spirit, you know, when people used to copy the scriptures by hand and they were doing a page of scripture and they made a little mistake in the page, they had to throw away the whole page and start over because they wanted to get it right and I'm sure God made sure. Did the prophets got it. Exactly. Right. Exactly. As God said. So when we go through the word and we read what it has to say, we're actually listening to God speaking to us, think about that as you open scripture and you read it. God is actually speaking to you from the words that you read in those pages because he wants you to know it, he wants you to be guided by it. It is guidance for your life. 2nd Timothy 3 1617. Another one of those great passages to speak about the word says all scripture is god-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking and correcting and training in righteousness. So that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. You if you really want to walk as God wants you to walk, knowing the scriptures is really important valuable for each of Our Lives. And it truly comes from God. It's really comes from God. Jeremiah 23:16 says, this is what the Lord Almighty says, do not listen to what the prophets are prophesying to you. They will fill you with false hopes, they speak Visions from their own minds, not from the mouth of the Lord. In other words, there are people that come along and want to Proclaim that they have the truth and are right, but if they aren't Guided by the spirit of God, their faults, and that's what was happening and Jeremiah's day. You know, everybody was coming along and saying, you know, God is with us, he will help us conquer the Babylonians. You know, they aren't going to get here to Jerusalem and I will win the war and all these things. Well, guess what happened? They were lying in the Babylonians. Conquered them. Just Jeremiah, the prophet who was being Guided by the spirit said, And there are people in our day and age that come forth and want to add to the scriptures or want to change the scriptures in some way and we need to understand the scriptures and know when we're being fed. Something that isn't true. Truth is in the scripture and we need to know it. It needs to be a part of our Lives as it was part of Jeremiah's life and he understood the struggles that we're going on. Then I understand the struggles that are going on now. Remember that?

That Moses was Guided by God in a very special way. If you remember the story of his brother Aaron and his sister Marion and they were part of the glory that God was giving to Moses. And so they were standing up and speaking against Moses and God got a little angry with them. In fact, the had Miriam become leprous because of this, but here's what God said to them in numbers, 12 go read verses six and eight. He said, listen to my word when there is a prophet among you, I the Lord revealed myself to them and Visions I speak to them and dreams. Okay? So now we know how most of the profits got the word from the Lord. But then he goes on with him. Moses, I speak face-to-face clearly and not in riddles. He sees the form of the Lord. Why, then were you afraid to speak against my servant Moses? You know what it was saying is that very clearly you know I speak to the Lord particularly you know when we think about the first five books of the Bible, the works of Moses they are powerful works because God spoke to him clearly about they say they are clear messages to you. And I and so all of scripture But we need to recognize that we have this power of scripture, but we also have the spirit spoken by David 2nd, Samuel. 23:2 David near the end of his life. Speaking about how God used and guided him, remember, he wrote quite a few of books of the songs that were written. Okay, so we have a lot of information from David and he says, these words, the spirit of the Lord spoke through me. His word was on my tongue, so he recognized that he was led by the spirit in the things that he wrote, and all of those things that we read about in the Psalms work things that God gave David Okay, so here's the thing for each and everyone of us. You know, we want to live life the way God wants us to, and that's exactly why you're here today. You're here because you want to understand God and walk closer to him. Well, it comes with understanding is gone. This word is one of the things, but this word means little to us. If we aren't Guided by the spirit of God, we need the holy spirit in us, and we only get the holy spirit in us, when we come to the Lord. and we seek, Is forgiveness first. For our sins because he died for our sins. And we asked him to be the Lord and King Of Our Lives. When we do that, the Holy Spirit comes into us and he is there to guide us in all that we do including understanding what he says in the word of God. You know, some people will come along and say, well I'm I read the Bible but I don't understand a thing. Well, if you're not Guided by the spirit, you're not going to understand what it says in the word. But God wants you to understand, why would God create. Everything is created for you and not give you. The guy has to understand what he has done for you. Well, the word of God is that guidance and the one who guides you through, it is the Holy Spirit and God wants you to take advantage of those things. You know, for your life now and for your life for eternity. and so the call is this, if you don't know the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior and King, It's a good time to come and do it today because you have no guidance apart from him if you know him. Maybe it's time to. Take more advantage of what he's given you of the blessings that he gives you by understanding and knowing his word and learning to follow it in this lie. Let's pray.

Grace's father how we thank you that you have given us the power of your word, the very words of the mighty almighty God, the one who has come to love us and to die for us that we might have life. But then you also give us a spirit to guide us and direct us in these pads. Father, we thank you and praise you for these things. Help us to take advantage of it. Help us to look to you. And father if there's anyone in this building now, who does not know you was Lord and Savior. May you touch their very hearts at this moment, may you stir them and shake them till they realize that they need to take that step. They need to know you as Lord and Savior so that they can truly take advantage of all that you have done for their lives. Bless us. Oh Lord. Our God in Jesus name. Amen.

Our great father in Heaven. How we thank you that you love us and may we return that my love by loving you. And Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit that gives us wisdom and guidance for all that we do may, we walk in your life and Reveal Your Glory as we go forth from this assembly in Jesus precious name. Amen.
