*A New Year, A New Beginning*
Psalms 89:1-8

In this New Year we are going to celebrate a number of milestones.
The Winter Olympics, the Presidential Elections, birthdays, deaths and other things—not even thought of—will take place.
You may be looking forward to graduations, baby’s first steps, or the beginning of a new career.
However, there is something that be the driving in your life that will bring to fruition all of your dreams, hopes, and ambitions.
Without that driving force, there is no meaning behind the fulfillment of the events of life.
Of course I am talking about faith in God and then allowing Him to be the driving force in your life.
Many times if nothing is going wrong, God is out of our mind, except for a few half-hearted “thank you”.
And then the minute something goes wrong, we run to Him with “OH, GOD I NEED YOUR HELP” or “WHERE WERE YOU!”  All the while He was faithfully waiting on us to be faithful to Him.
Today we are going to examine the faithfulness of God and then man.
Let’s examine faithfulness by first seeing:
*I.                   **God’s Faithful Toward Us  *(Psalm 89:1-4)
A.                In the book of Psalms the word “Faithfulness” is used 22 times.
Of those 22 times, 15 refers to the faithfulness of God.
B.
But what is this faithfulness all about.
Faithfulness can be defined as a display of God’s love, sincerity, or stability.
C.
God proves His faithfulness to us in many ways:
1.                  Physical
i)                   Life
ii)                 Needs
iii)              Friends
iv)               Family
v)                 Home
vi)               Health
2.                  Spiritual
i)                   Salvation
a)                  Giving of

(2)               Cross
(3)               Resurrection
b)                 Sustaining of
ii)                 Showing Mercy
iii)              Answering Prayer
iv)               Giving us a Church to Worship in and be apart of
The church is like a bank-the more you put into it, the more interest you have in it.
Next let’s examine the display of:
*II.
**Man’s Faithfulness Toward God* (2 Chronicles 19:9)
A.                Displays of Faithfulness to the World
1.                  Work
2.                  Leisure
B.                 Our Proof of Faithfulness to God

2.                  Assembly /(Hebrews 10:25)/
All references to the church in Acts—except two—refers to the local congregation.
Attendance is not for the building of records but for the building of Christians.
3.                  Offerings
i)                   Time  /(1 Corinthians 3:5-13)/
It is better to wear out than to rust out.
ii)                 Talent /(1 Corinthians 3:5-13)/

It’s a New Year, now make this a new beginning.
Remember, “The world crowns success; God crowns faithfulness.”
