The Promises to the Seed Thrower

When anyone before God, seeks any godly thing according to the will of God, and will follow God’s Word, he can also trust in God’s promises. Here in Psalm 126 we have a very straightforward promise from God if we will heed it.

I. The Conditions

A. YOU MUST GO!

"He that goeth forth..."
Matthew 28:19, Mark 16:15
Friends, we have to GO!
The non-church goer cannot be reached by a non-GOING church!
There has been so much sickness going around; contagious colds and flu and nearly everyone has it. It affects every person it touches or even comes close to. I thought about how that applies to our witnessing…..wouldn’t it be wonderful if every Christian in our church started to have this very POSITIVE and highly contagious effect on the lost around them! Our problem is that we are not GOING. Most Christians are living as though they were under quarantine, when the outbreak is the cure! The epidemic is the antidote!
In 1929, the Soviet Government came up with a plan that they felt would totally wipe out the church. Do you know what they did? They passed a law-----NOT to close the church buildings; NOT to prohibit church services on Sunday morning, but to make it a crime to GO into the neighborhoods and witness/reach out to other people. In other words, the only law that the Soviet Union passed was --you can meet, but you cannot GO. Unfortunately, what the Communists did in 1929 by decree, we are doing today by indifference here in the U.S.

B. You must care

"..and weepeth..." There is a great need in the Church for a revival of tears. "Oh that my head were waters, and mine eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!" (Jeremiah 9:1).
Our church, every church, needs a ministry of tears; tears are a pre-requisite to joy.
Let’s think about this, where do tears come from? How do we have tears?

1. To have tears you must care

Your apathy is not conducive of winning souls.
Your apathy cannot allow you to care for souls.
You cannot have tears for someone you do not care about.

2. To have tears you must love God and desire His will

You should care about the things that he wants – and when you don’t do your best – if you cared it should cause tears. Have you disappointed God, have you disobeyed him, have you failed him in some capacity, then shed some tears, confess it and get it right – especially about reaching people.

3. To have tears you must care about souls yourself

We have to get a burden for the lost and for the call of God.
Burden goes before blessing. Tears anticipate triumph. Groans go before glory.
Psalm 30:5 AV
For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.
One of the major causes of our BARREN churches and our JOYLESS congregations is a tearless ministry. Until we experience the upsurge of a godly sorrow for souls, we shall labor in vain to bring true REVIVAL.
We have tried many good things; we have spent ourselves in better organization and sacrificial zeal; but we have not seen the outpouring of the Holy Spirit for which we had hoped. WE NEED TEARS!
The walls of Jerusalem were never built until Nehemiah got a burden and cared:
Nehemiah 1:3 AV
And they said unto me, The remnant that are left of the captivity there in the province are in great affliction and reproach: the wall of Jerusalem also is broken down, and the gates thereof are burned with fire.
Nehemiah 1:4 AV
And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven,
He, who weeps frequently with a broken heart, will not soon backslide.
He who pours out his tears in prayer and Bible study will never become a fanatic.
He who goes with a bleeding heart sowing the precious seed of the Gospel will be sure that he will reap souls for God.
He who groans with agony of soul for the souls of others will bring forth the spiritual fruit that he so desires, and that God wants to produce through us.
Who are you broken for today? Who are you Weeping for Today?
I don’t remember a lot about my stepdad’s testimony, I know he was saved along with my mom in 1978.
He became a bus driver and run a bus route for about a year. I know he lead one soul to Christ. I think it was because he shed tears for the man.
I remember him giving the testimony of a co-worker from Ohio-Crankshaft where they worked – had come down with leukemia, and was on his deathbed at the hospital, my step-dad went into witness to him. One thing I remember is that my dad wept over him. Then he led him to Christ.

C. You Must Sow!

"...bearing precious seed...." Mark 4:14
1 Corinthians 3:6 AV
I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
2 Corinthians 9:10 AV
Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)
There is not a person who cannot Go:
There is not a person here that cannot Weep:
And there is not a person who cannot SOW.
Sowing is scattering the seed. The seed is the Word of God.
It comes in the form of tract. It comes in the form of the Bible, It comes in the form of these John/Romans. It comes in the form of an Revival Invitation. It comes in the form of a witness. It comes in the form of praying.
It come sin the form of preparing on Wednesday nights.
Everyone can sow the seed of the Word of God in countless ways.

D. A Simple Plan

1. Show them God wants them to know that they have eternal life – 1 John 5:13
· 2 Peter 3:9 – God’s not willing for anyone to go to hell
2. Show them that they are a sinner – Romans 3:10, 23
· Romans 5:12 – Original Sin
· Revelations 20:12 – There will be a Judgment Day
3. Show them the wages of sin is death – Romans 6:23a
· Revelation 21:8 – For all sinners
· Revelation 20:12-15 – The second death is Hell
4. Show them Christ died to pay their sin debt – Romans 5:8
· 1 John 2:1-2 – Propitiation (payment)
5. Show them that if they put their faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, He will save them – Romans 10:9, 10, 13
· John 3:3, 16
Ask them if they would like to put their faith in Christ right now. Lead them to pray and repentant of sin, and to believe on Christ as their Lord and Savior.
But if I’m going to sow, I need to Go, and I need weep – so when I sow, that I might also reap.
Will you GO? Will you WEEP? Will you SOW? Then there will be a day when you will: REAP

II. Then there will be a Harvest

A. God’s commitment

"...shall doubtless”
Numbers 23:19 AV
God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

B. Harvest in the Fruit of Rejoicing

“come again with rejoicing”
Psalm 119:47 AV
And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved.

C. Harvest in the Fruit of Souls

come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him."
The sheaves indicate a harvest – a fruitfulness.
Isaiah 55:11 AV
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
And you and I, if we will just go, and sow, and weep, we will doubtless one day reap!
Perhaps you are discouraged, you have passed out tracts, you have gone door knocking, you have tried to be a witness to your co-workers or schoolmates and you haven’t seen any results, let me remind you that the results are not your responsibility, they are Gods, our job is very simple from this passage in Psalm 126.
There is a four word outline I think is appropriate for us to remember here what God promises to us, it goes like this:
GO, WEEP, SOW, REAP
