Explain what happens on our second in person session - WE call it an altar service
it a time of extended worship and praise and time to allow the Holy Spirit to speak and to move - I believe its going to be a regular feature @ the Place of Grace
One of our grace cultures is that we are graced to display the Kingdom of God
Well the Scripture tells us -
New International Version For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, - Romans 14.17
JOY in the Holy Ghost - Expression in the Spirit - Movement in the Spirit
The church must be careful that our religious expression does not purely become a natural movement void of the supernatural power of GOD!
Dad Hagin would say that there is a move of the Spirit that will be lost to a generation unless it is taught and experienced!
The Pandemic has tried to rob the church of a move of God
The Altars have become deficient - Again I thank God for technology and that we can meet and receive the Word online and there is no distance in the Spirit and all that good stuff!
YET there is nothing like the physical, corporate prescence of the Holy Spirit
The corporate flow of the glorious spirit of God when my supply and your supply join together to produce the power and manifest presence of GOD
And that is what our altars service is about - so online I we will be spending time in the Word so that the private altars you build will also into your relationship with God
The ALTAR is a place of encounter!
Men of God in the scriptures would encounter God and build a memorial of of the access that they had with GOD
Altars are places of access with a deity or a force beyond
Altars are an invitation for the spirit to come into a realm
Altars are access - permission for that spirit to Come into a world
This is why Israel were mandated to tear down altars - The most common verb for destruction is “to tear down” (ntṣ), occurring often in the Deuteronomic material. Other terms include “to cause to depart/decommission” (śı̂r), “to throw down” (hrs), “to tear apart” (qrʿ), “to smash” (šbr), “to be waste” (ḥrb), “to be desolate” (šmm), and “to break” (ʿrp).
we do not give permission for Baal and for Astoroth, Dagon - No tear them down and build an altar to the true God of Israel!
There are permission points in the earth - and certainly in the regions that we are called to - we need to ensure that we are building what God desires to inhabit!
So that is what we are doing - the church need to get hungry for the presence and power of God again!
And there has been a phrase in my spirit- The power of the TARRY
You see I believe that to some extent the church has lost its “wait” concerning the perescence of God
And its not just an element of the pandemic--- we have structured everything to fit in a certain time
we live in a rushed and busy culture - and our times with God, our services, our prayers, our worship experiences have to fit in and compete with everthing else that we have going on in our life!
I ALWAYS feel like even us as a church we are competing to be worth your time...
This sunday online experience will we beat out the gym, the picnic in the park, your shopping--- and I know that this can be a microsm of what we do with our relationship with God---He’s always competing FOR OUR TIME! OUR SCHEDULES!
This encounter that Jacob had with God where he subsequently builds an altar to memoralise the encounter...
Gen (Chapter 28)
10 Now Jacob went out from Beersheba and went toward Haran. 11 So he came to a certain place and stayed there all night, because the sun had set. And he took one of the stones of that place and put it at his head, and he lay down in that place to sleep. 12 Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. 13 And behold, the Lord stood above it and said: “I am the Lord God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie I will give to you and your descendants. 14 Also your descendants shall be as the dust of the earth; you shall spread abroad to the west and the east, to the north and the south; and in you and in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed. 15 Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you.”
The New King James Version (Chapter 28)
17 And he was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven!”
A CERTAIN PLACE - He STAYED THERE ALL NIGHT!
The Lord shows up - but he had to stay there! He had to wait - He had to tarry!
AT the end of the encounter he builds this altar and says - THIS IS THE GATE OF GOD
TO HAVE A GATE - YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE TO LEARN TO WAIT!
Sometimes there is a blessing in the seek!
Theres another verse - where we can see this principle at work
“Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with Power from on High.” Luke 24:49(NKJV).
TARRY UNTIL - SOMEONE write- TARRY UNTIL
theres something powerful about the ‘tarry until’
WAIT UNTIL - “Listen carefully: I am sending the Promise of My Father [the Holy Spirit] upon you; but you are to remain in the city [of Jerusalem] until you are clothed (fully equipped) with Power from on High.” Luke 24:49 (AMP).
Tarry - means to wait, remain, stay, hang around - until the power comes, until you are fully clothed in it!
Not everyone will WAIT - NOT everyone WILL TARRY --- The scriptures tells us that Jesus showed himself alive after the ressurection to at least 500 people - at least 500 people received the instruction …tarry until the power comes.... BUT as time goes on…not everyone can maintain a hunger
500 whittles down to 400, then 300 until you have 120 faithful!! Someone say “I am a part of the faithful”
I am a part of the one who waits, who tarries..
No wonder the Scripture tells us that, “those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength….” (Isaiah 40:31a) The word “wait” is derived from the Hebrew word “qavah” which literally means “to bind together by twisting” and “to gather together with an earnest longing, a desire
Every Move of the Spirit of God, the Chief Equipper of men, is triggered off by overwhelming spiritual hunger thirst
Every revival in history began with a people that learned and developed and grew in their tarry..grew in their wait
I believe this is a part of what God desire to do in our altar services
Altars are the place of slaughter and maybe some of our ways, our impatience, the things we put before God need to die…and the desire and hunger for him needs to be made alive!
Tarry this week…wait this week…UNTIL you sense the shift..!
Its coming!!
