Setting the Stage for the series

The Past - Jesus has walked with His disciples for 3 years.
The Present - Celebrating their last Passover feast together, they are alone in the upper room.
The Future - These disciples are about to witness and experience the most life-altering, dramatic experience of their lives.

The Promise of Troubles

Verb here is found in the indicative case, which is the case used to present the reality of a situation as fact!
Jesus promised there would be troubles.

The Possibility of Peace

Verb here is in the subjunctive case, which describes the reality of the situation as potential or probable.
In other words, Jesus promised there would be troubles, but the peace is conditional.
First, let us define peace in this context:
It is not the cessation of war.
It is not the enforcement of law and order.
It is the well-being of the individual with social implications.
Second, what are the conditions:
They are found in His word! (these things have I spoke...
They are for His people! (...to you all)
They are located in Him! (....that in me…)
Pupose-result
Only through meeting the conditions can peace be a lifestyle not just an experience!

The Power of the Person, Jesus Christ

The answer to a pervading problem must be a pervading solution!
Treatment speaks to a method of maintenance!
Cure speaks to the solution of a problem!
You can have peace in the chaos of life because He has overcome the world!
This is not a name-it, claim-it situation.
This is not a genie in the lamp!
This is the practice of faith in the person and work of only Jesus Christ!
