Hebrews 9:27–28 ESV
And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.
Are we missing something?
When does the judgment come?
There will be a Bema Seat judgment for believers
There will be a Great White Throne for non-believers
…or might it be two different discussions of the same event?
But first...

The Rapture

It would seem that the judgment will be after this time
Not a Biblical term…but a Biblical event
Latin, raptura, the act of carrying off
Gr. harpazo, essentially the same
Support for the concept in general: John 14:1-3; 1 Cor. 15:51-52

Three Approaches

Pre-Tribulation
Church is removed before the tribulation begins
Some supporting Scripture: Dan. 9:24-27; Matt. 24:3-28; Rev. 11:2, 12:14; 1 Thess. 1:10; Rev. 3:10
Mid-Tribulation
Church is removed at the middle point of the Great Tribulation
Some supporting Scripture: Matt. 24:15-28; Rev. 16-18
Also Pre-Wrath—Rapture is before God’s wrath is poured out as above
Post-Tribulation
Places the Rapture and the Second Coming of the Lord at the same time
Supporting Scripture: …well…1 Thes. 5:9
Parallel between 1 Thes 5:2 and Rev. 16:15
Bottom line: It’s going to happen
If you fall into the pre-trib camp, be ready, be living rightly
If you fall into mid or post-trib camp, same answer
Sunday’s message will hit these issues
Sticky issue of the

Millennium

Pre-mil; post-mil, A-mil camps
Pre-trib, mid-trib, pre-wrath, and post-trib camps all are pre-mil
Post-mil folks put the rapture at the end of the millennium
A-mil think we’re in the millennium; the rapture will be part of the wrap-up at the end of time
