Call to worship
At the beginning of time your love touched the void, bringing order out of chaos and creating a world that gave you joy. God of love,
Here I am to Worship
A gathering prayer
As we gather together this morning,
We give you thanks for all the good things you provide,
Things that we see and don’t see that your hands provide.
A prayer of adoration
We come before you this morning,
With thanks in our hearts,
For you are a great and merciful God
The provider of all our needs
The creator of all.
We give you thanks.
A prayer of confession and an assurance of forgiveness
Lord, for the times we have not been a good neighbour to those in need.
For the times when our selfish desires, overshadow the works you have planned for us.
For when we ignore the lessons you taught us, through examples and parables.
We come to you now to confess the things we do.
and ask you to unclutter our lives, Lord, we who have too much, consume too much, expect too much.
Grant us perspective; to see this world through others’ eyes than just our own.
Grant us compassion: where there is need to play our part, we do not turn aside.
Grant us gratitude for what we have, our daily bread the gift of life.
Unclutter our lives, Lord, give us space, simplicity and a thankful heart.
You Lord give us your assurance,
That when we come to you, you welcome us as your children. Blessed and reassured of you unfailing love.
Amen
Father God I wonder
What a beautiful name (Cap 2)
IN THE BEGINNING THE EARTH WAS A FORMLESS VOID AND DARKNESS COVERED THE FACE OF THE DEEP. (dark chocolate)
THEN GOD SAID ‘LET THERE BE LIGHT’ AND THERE WAS LIGHT (light chocolate). AND GOD SEPERATED THE LIGHT FROM DARKNESS. GOD CALLED THE LIGHT DAY AND THE DARKNESS NIGHT, (white chocolate) AND THERE WAS EVENING AND MORNING THE FIRST DAY
THEN GOD SAID LET THERE BE A DOME IN THE MIDST OF THE WATERS AND LET IT SEPARATE THE WATERS FROM THE WATERS. GOD CALLED THE DOME SKY (mars bar) AND THERE WAS EVENING AND MORNING THE SECOND DAY.
THEN GOD SAID LET DRY LAND APPEAR. THE LAND HE CALLED EARTH THE WATER SEAS. AND HE SAID LET THE EARTH PUT FORWARD VEGETATION, PLANTS YIELDING SEED OF EVERY KIND, TREES OF EVERY KIND BEARING FRUIT. (apple and carrot) AND THERE WAS EVENING AND MORNING THE THIRD DAY.
AND GOD SAID LET THERE BE LIGHTS IN THE SKY TO SEPARATE DAY FROM NIGHT. SO GOD MADE TWO GREAT LIGHTS THE GREAT LIGHT TO RULE THE DAY, THE LESSER LIGHT THE NIGHT AND HE MADE THE STARS. (milky way) AND THERE WAS EVENING AND MORNING THE FOURTH DAY.
AND GOD SAID LET THE WATERS BRING FORTH LIVING CREATURES AND LET BIRDS FLY ABOVE THE EARTH. SO GOD CREATED THE GREAT SEA MONSTERS AND EVERY CREATURE THAT MOVES. (penguins) AND THERE WAS EVENING AND MORNING THE FIFTH DAY
AND GOD SAID LET THE EARTH BRING FORTH LIVING CREATURES OF EVERY KIND, EVEN LIONS AND TIGERS. (lion bar)
AND THEN CREATED HUMANKIND TO RULE OVER ALL CREATURES OF THE EARTH. (jelly babies)
AND THERE WAS MORNING AND EVENING THE SIXTH DAY.
AND ON THE SEVENTH DAY GOD HAD A BREAK. (Kit kat)
Children’s quiz of “The Good Samaritan”
Reading:
Luke 10:25–37 ESV
And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” He said to him, “What is written in the Law? How do you read it?” And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” And he said to him, “You have answered correctly; do this, and you will live.” But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” Jesus replied, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him and departed, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a priest was going down that road, and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion. He went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him. And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take care of him, and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.’ Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?” He said, “The one who showed him mercy.” And Jesus said to him, “You go, and do likewise.”
Be thou my vision (Cap2)
Prayers of intercession
In Christ Alone (Capo 3)
Sending out and blessing
Lord send us out with the wonder of your creation,
Lord give us the strength to stand up from the weak and powerless,
And the Lord bless you and keep you.
the Lord make his face shine on you,
and be gracious to you.
the Lord turn his face towards you
and give you peace.
and the blessing of God almighty,
the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
be among you and remain with you always. Amen.
