How does God see me?

2 Corinthians 5:20–21 NIV
20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. 21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Once we believe in Him, repent of our sins, and accept His gift of salvation, we are the righteousness of God in Christ!
When He looks at us, He sees the blood of His only son, poured out on the cross, and made whole again through the resurrection and empty tomb!

Who does God say that I am?

1. Chosen

Ephesians 1:4 NIV
4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love
Before you even had the chance to mess anything up, God chose you!
So, He put together this dream-team, and He didn’t add any left-overs! He chose every single one of us, from the beginning, with a perfect purpose in mind!

2. Loved

Ephesians 1:4–5 NIV
4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will—
Jesus gave up all glory and authority in heaven for you....
1 John 4:19 NIV
19 We love because he first loved us.
The love that is expressed in the relationship with Jesus is unlike the love that we see anywhere else in the world! His love always has been, is now, and will always be, perfect!

3. Forgiven

Ephesians 1:7 NIV
7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace
1 Peter 2:24 NIV
24 “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”
What God has taken and from us, destroyed on the cross, and removed from us as far as the east is to the west is dead. Do not take it back on!

4. Redeemed

Ephesians 1:7 NIV
7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace
Jesus came to pay the price for sin....that we sold out to...
Through the blood of Christ, the debt has been paid! Jesus paid the price and set us free from the bondage of sin!
Not only did He pay the price for our sin, He wants to transform our broken parts!
God wants to take those broken parts of your life and use them for His glory!

5. Holy

Ephesians 1:4 NIV
4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love
Holy definition: set apart for the deity
To be set apart from the ways of the world. To be set part from sin.
To be holy means to keep our focus on Jesus!

What Has God Called Me to Do?

How Desperate Are You to See Lives Transformed?

Talked about how Paul had Timothy circumcised so that the Jews would be more willing to accept the Him and the gospel.
If we are desperate to see lives transformed, then we look to our generic call as Christians:
Matthew 28:19–20 NIV
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
As we make disciples, this includes serving the Church and our local Church.

How has God equipped me?

How God is revealed:
1. Spoken Word 2. Physical Word (Jesus) 3. Written Word 4. Church 5. Holy Spirit
Questions:
1. Are you listening to God’s Spoken Word? 2. Are you drawing close to His Physical Word (Jesus)? 3. Are you reading and studying His Written Word (the Bible)? 4. Are you actively a part of and serving His people, the Church? 5. Are you allowing His Holy Spirit to guide your life?

Am I Doing It?

Ephesians 4:11–13 NIV
11 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
Romans 12:4–8 (NIV)
4 For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; 7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8 if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
As leaders in the church, we are to equip the church to do what we are called to do!
As members of the Church, we are to use the gifts that God has given us to help others to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
So, how have you been using your gifts help the Church grow?
Do you feel like God is asking you to serve the Church? If so, in how?
Do you feel like God is asking you to serve First Baptist Church? If so, how?
I went over the different positions in the church a few weeks ago, but want to go back over them a bit again today as we commit to doing what God has called us to do.
Talk about ministries! Have Jessica come up to talk about Children’s church and ask the youth leaders if they would like to come up and talk about youth group.
Pay “promises” as people pray. Welcome to come to the front and pray over your commitment before you sign it.
Hang your commitment card somewhere you will see it and it can be a reminder throughout the year. Continue praying for what God has called you to!
Ephesians 2:10 NASB95
10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.
