Lets look at the Brush Home

Sukkot (Succoth)

a brush dwelling
Genesis 33:17 AV
And Jacob journeyed to Succoth, and built him an house, and made booths for his cattle: therefore the name of the place is called Succoth.
On the feast people came to Jerusalem to celebrate
build it large enough for the whole family to live in
built in the yard or roof of the house
visitors to the city, where ever they can find room
bring the furniture and cooking and eating utensils
big enough to live in for 8 days/ brought the indoors out
walls made of tapestries
carpet on the floor, children’s artwork on the walls
adorned with examples of the harvest- wheat, pomegranates, figs honey, vines, and barley
the roof made out of palm branches if available. but the people must be able to see the stars
Beautifying the booth, its for the glory of God. nothing could be to
elaborate
you always tried to outdo their neighbors
its never enough for God
your neighbor cant be better than yours
The Roof
made of branches, but not tight. need to be able to look at the stars
front is open and a leaky roof
no protection but from God
no security but from God
be able to look at the stars and think of the Father
in the wilderness they had the pillar of fire by night
and the cloud by day to remind them God was in their midst

Our Future

Millennial Kingdom
Zechariah 14:16 LEB
And then every survivor from all those nations coming against Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship the king, Yahweh of hosts, and celebrate the Feast of Booths.
every fall during the millennial kingdom
we will take our humans to Jerusalem to celebrate the feast of booths
from around the world, coming to worship the King
children's art work being inspected by Jesus
Pictures of Jesus, Redemption, the sacrifice, the empty tomb
pictures of the nail scarred hands
all of the nations will come to Jerusalem to Sukkot
to worship the King ,
to see the one who rules the world, in peace, in justice
no corruption, a perfect world
Conclusion
the world we live in today is not that perfect world
we are in a world that is under the curse of sin
Satan is quickly preparing for the antichrist kingdom
we are chosen to live in this world this time and place
we are here at Old Home Sunday to remember
the summers of long ago, rope swings
the people saved in this building
the Sunday School picnics
and even though this world is falling away fast
Jesus is on the throne in Heaven and He is still in charge
nothing happens on this planet without His permission
that is something that we need to remember every day
in every circumstance of life
