A Song of Ascents.
When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion,
we were like those who dream.
Then our mouth was filled with laughter,
and our tongue with shouts of joy;
then it was said among the nations,
“The Lord has done great things for them.”
The Lord has done great things for us,
and we rejoiced.
Restore our fortunes, O Lord,
like the watercourses in the Negeb.
May those who sow in tears
reap with shouts of joy.
Those who go out weeping,
bearing the seed for sowing,
shall come home with shouts of joy,
carrying their sheaves.
There are time in our lives where we were told to dram big, live big and enjoy life. Imagine your wildest dream and go for it, right? The book of Habakkuk even tells us to write the vision and make it plain and yet somewhere down the road after we have given it to the forerunner God we lost sight of that dream. For whatever reason maybe we were told we could not achieve that goal or dream set. Finances may have gotten in the way, life changes happened unexpectedly and we just gave up on the dream. It’s possible we thought to small of the dream because we didn’t see anything bigger before us to happen so we settled on what was before us and stayed in a stagnant place. Or could it be that we were afraid to take the risk because the dream we planned or saw from God was too big for us to do but God said it was not too big for him to do. The thought for today’s sermon says Dream Again, God Size. See when you dream or when God gives you the vision and it causes you to take a risk to achieve it then that is a God size Dream. When you cannot manipulate the dream he has set out for your or the church then that is a God Size dream. So, today I am wanting us to Dream Again but this time in God Size. That means we do not have control over what happens to get to what God as destined us to achieve, right?
I have three points to this topic today for us to ponder on this week and the rest of our lives here on earth, not only to encourage us but for us to encourage someone else who may not be on with us this morning as well.
When we dream again God size it will ensure deliverance and growth. (Give the background of the Israelites in Babylonian captivity) Deuteronomy 30:3-5
God, your God, will restore everything you lost; he’ll have compassion on you; he’ll come back and pick up the pieces from all the places where you were scattered. No matter how far away you end up, God, your God, will get you out of there and bring you back to the land your ancestors once possessed. It will be yours again. He will give you a good life and make you more numerous than your ancestors.
God will always deliver his children from captivity of others who try to oppress them and even deliver you from yourself, yes even yourself. When that self talk stats to enter into your mind the Lord says I will deliver you and once he does the growth will begin within you because you have now seen what God can do and the promises that he keeps with his children who believe in him as their Lord, their God, their Savior. The bible says he will restore you and all that was lost in the midst of our unbelief, our unfocused mind and disobedience that caused us to loose focus. Dream Again God Size women and men of God. Rejoice with your lips and laugh again because the Lord has restored you and shown you how to dream again. He will make your enemies wonder why you are smiling and laughing and from there you can bring them into the Big picture.
What is the Big picture? I’m glad you were thinking about that already. The Big picture of dreaming again God size is that it forces us to invite other into the Big Story. What is the story? It is that of the Lord restoring us to his full potential of what he created each of us to do for him. Verse four says that he restores the fortunes like the watercourses in the Ne’geb. See the Ne’geb is a river that when it rains can become very violent and take over the harvest that is coming forth. But when it slows down and nurtures the land underneath the soil it restores all that is around it and spreads its waters beyond the banks of he river. So when we look at it in this way we see ourselves bringing in others to see the God size dream he has given them and restored them through their weeping of tears and shouts of joy and what they sowed it was brought forth in celebration because of the trust they had in God. When you invite others into the big story that means you are sharing your story of how God restored your dreams and hopes again. Someone needs to hear your story of when you were about to give up on God but God did not give up on you and showed you his promise and that he will keep them even when we abandon them. Remember, Jeremiah 29:11-13
I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.
“When you call on me, when you come and pray to me, I’ll listen.
“When you come looking for me, you’ll find me.
“Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I’ll make sure you won’t be disappointed.” God’s Decree.
“I’ll turn things around for you. I’ll bring you back from all the countries into which I drove you”—God’s Decree—“bring you home to the place from which I sent you off into exile. You can count on it.
When we believe and trust his Word and bring others along with us to fulfill the God size dream he placed over our lives His kingdom will be glorified and our lives will be bigger and better than we could have every imagined.
This leads me to my last point of today and that is, give glory to God and not to yourself or others in the dream becoming reality. When we give glory to God for our deliverance and growth and bring others into the big picture he will do just as it says in Amos 9:13-15
“Yes indeed, it won’t be long now.” God’s Decree.
“Things are going to happen so fast your head will swim, one thing fast on the heels of the other. You won’t be able to keep up. Everything will be happening at once—and everywhere you look, blessings! Blessings like wine pouring off the mountains and hills. I’ll make everything right again for my people Israel:
“They’ll rebuild their ruined cities.
They’ll plant vineyards and drink good wine.
They’ll work their gardens and eat fresh vegetables.
And I’ll plant them, plant them on their own land.
They’ll never again be uprooted from the land I’ve given them.”
God, your God, says so.
God created us to give him glory and to Dream Big. We must Dream Again in God Size GAT, family and friends. He has so much more in store for us than what we can see right not. If your Dreams to not make you nervous or give you that sense of taking a risk for him then they are not Gods dreams they are yours that you are trying to figure out how to make them work. I declare to you today to take your hands off and let God direct your steps, your eyes, your heart, your mind and your spirit. The only way we can Dream Again God Size is by letting go of our fears and insecurities about what we see around us and grab hold of the vision God has laid before you from the time you were woven in the womb of your mothers belly.
I love the scripture in Proverbs 16:3
Put God in charge of your work,
then what you’ve planned will take place.
and the verse 9 says, Proverbs 16:9
We plan the way we want to live,
but only God makes us able to live it.
When we put our trust in God and lean not to our own understanding and work together to make the Dream God Size, he will get the glory every single time because it was not of our doing but of the Lords.
The big picture in all of this is that of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who saw the God Size dream when he came in human form from his father. He knew the big picture before we did and fulfilled the God Size vision of his father by dying on the cross from all humankind sin. Psalm 37:1-11
Do not fret because of the wicked;
do not be envious of wrongdoers,
for they will soon fade like the grass,
and wither like the green herb.
Trust in the Lord, and do good;
so you will live in the land, and enjoy security.
Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him, and he will act.
He will make your vindication shine like the light,
and the justice of your cause like the noonday.
Be still before the Lord, and wait patiently for him;
do not fret over those who prosper in their way,
over those who carry out evil devices.
Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath.
Do not fret—it leads only to evil.
For the wicked shall be cut off,
but those who wait for the Lord shall inherit the land.
Yet a little while, and the wicked will be no more;
though you look diligently for their place, they will not be there.
But the meek shall inherit the land,
and delight themselves in abundant prosperity.
Learn to Dream Again God Size no matter what life throws at you. Jesus had many things thrown at him and yet he still stayed focused on what God the Father called him to do for others here on earth. It’s time to Dream Again and leave the old baggage in the past. Is it going to be difficult yes, and God says to trust in him with all your heart and lean not to your small dream(understanding). Acknowledge him and his works and he will make the path clear of the Dreams he has set for you, for your family, for the church and even on your job.
Dream Again saints of the most High God in God Size dreams and visions. Let the Lord restore back the joy and laughter you once had and glorify him and him alone.
I can say Jesus did just that when he went to the cross and was persecuted by those who said Hosanna one day and crucify him the next. Jesus came with a God Size vision and that was to save us all from the sin we were born into after the fall of the first Adam. He bled and was tortured upon a cross that he had to carry as the Son of God to fulfill the God size Vision so that we may Dream Big. That is why he came and that is why he died. But he said his battle, this God size vision was not over yet as he rose on the third day and laid aside his grave clothes to live out the God size vision that was given to him to bare. He saved you and me for such a time as this for the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 2:9
But as it is written:
“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
He prepared Big Dreams in a God size package. Do you see it saints of God, do you feel it. Are you ready and willing to live our your God Size dream for your life and for this church and most of all for the Church of the Living God. Don’t let the enemy rob you of what God says you are called to be. And when you are in the midst of that God Size Dream you need to share the story along the way so others will come and ask how do i get to know a God like that who can restore my joy and fortunes with shouting and love. The Word of God for all who believe in God.
Today is the day to Dream Again God Size as we prepare the altar for salvation today.
