Give Scripture: Ezekiel 3:7-3:21

Ezekiel 3:7–21 KJV 1900
7 But the house of Israel will not hearken unto thee; for they will not hearken unto me: for all the house of Israel are impudent and hardhearted. 8 Behold, I have made thy face strong against their faces, and thy forehead strong against their foreheads. 9 As an adamant harder than flint have I made thy forehead: fear them not, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house. 10 Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, all my words that I shall speak unto thee receive in thine heart, and hear with thine ears. 11 And go, get thee to them of the captivity, unto the children of thy people, and speak unto them, and tell them, Thus saith the Lord God; whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear. 12 Then the spirit took me up, and I heard behind me a voice of a great rushing, saying, Blessed be the glory of the Lord from his place. 13 I heard also the noise of the wings of the living creatures that touched one another, and the noise of the wheels over against them, and a noise of a great rushing. 14 So the spirit lifted me up, and took me away, and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; but the hand of the Lord was strong upon me. 15 Then I came to them of the captivity at Tel-abib, that dwelt by the river of Chebar, and I sat where they sat, and remained there astonished among them seven days. 16 And it came to pass at the end of seven days, that the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, 17 Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me. 18 When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. 19 Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul. 20 Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand. 21 Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul.

Give A Review

The last few weeks we have been completing our introduction into the book of Ezekiel. Ezekiel is a prophet who has an experience with God that culminates in a vision and interaction with God. God begins to speak to him concerning his ministry and the prophetic calling which was on his life.
God gives clear instruction and direction concerning his walk forward which is much like the calls given to Isaiah and Jeremiah. Furthermore, the call given to Ezekiel is much like the call given to Christians in the efforts to preach Christ to a dying world.

Scripture Study

Ezekiel 3:7–9 KJV 1900
7 But the house of Israel will not hearken unto thee; for they will not hearken unto me: for all the house of Israel are impudent and hardhearted. 8 Behold, I have made thy face strong against their faces, and thy forehead strong against their foreheads. 9 As an adamant harder than flint have I made thy forehead: fear them not, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.
So here we see where we left off.
We leave off with God speaking strength and fortitude into Ezekiel’s spirit.
Ezekiel 3:10–11 KJV 1900
10 Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, all my words that I shall speak unto thee receive in thine heart, and hear with thine ears. 11 And go, get thee to them of the captivity, unto the children of thy people, and speak unto them, and tell them, Thus saith the Lord God; whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear.
The captive man is to go the captive people and preach God’s word to them.
God sent them to the children of his people because their minds are impressionable and they represented the next generation.
Are we reaching our children?
Ezekiel 3:12 KJV 1900
12 Then the spirit took me up, and I heard behind me a voice of a great rushing, saying, Blessed be the glory of the Lord from his place.
And again we here the praises of God out of mouths of his creation.
Ezekiel 3:13 KJV 1900
13 I heard also the noise of the wings of the living creatures that touched one another, and the noise of the wheels over against them, and a noise of a great rushing.
The creatures, which have sat back and watched this interaction, now enter back into the forefront as they begin moving again.
Ezekiel 3:14 KJV 1900
14 So the spirit lifted me up, and took me away, and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; but the hand of the Lord was strong upon me.
The spirit begins to leave Ezekiel and so great was the presence of the spirit that he felt bitter as it left him.
And yet he felt strong because the hand of God being upon him, despite the presence of his spirit leaving him and lifting him out of that moment of glory.
Ezekiel 3:15 KJV 1900
15 Then I came to them of the captivity at Tel-abib, that dwelt by the river of Chebar, and I sat where they sat, and remained there astonished among them seven days.
Under the new weight of his prophetic assignment, he sat in a public place amidst the people he was called to and there he was in a state of shock for seven days.
He spends seven days trying to cope with his new found role and responsibilities.
But he also spends seven days with a new prophetic eye, with new spiritual eyes, and watches the people move back and forth and all the while feeling the pull of his prophetic anointing.
Ezekiel 3:16–17 KJV 1900
16 And it came to pass at the end of seven days, that the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, 17 Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.
After his prophetic experience is over and God has given him seven days to gather himself, God speaks to him once again to affirm his call in the spirit and to make his point clear.
Ezekiel 3:18 KJV 1900
18 When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
Their is a price to pay for disobedience.
Ezekiel 3:19 KJV 1900
19 Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.
Ezekiel 3:20 KJV 1900
20 Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
Ezekiel 3:21 KJV 1900
21 Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul.
