TEXT: JOHN 9:1-7
John 9:1–7 NKJV
1 Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. 2 And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” 3 Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him. 4 I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. 5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” 6 When He had said these things, He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay. 7 And He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated, Sent). So he went and washed, and came back seeing.
We are continuing our Journey, through the book of John!
John is nothing like the synoptic gospels.
While Matthew starts with Geneology of Christ
And mark and Luke starts with a prophecy of some sorts,
John starts with the PERSON of Christ!
That before there was a prophecy, he was here!
Before there was Mary, there was Jesus.
Before there was a John the Baptist to prepare the way for Jesus, there was a Jesus!
For he begins with
“In the beginning there was the word”
John has a deeper relationship with Christ.
For whenever Christ did something spectular,
He would take Peter, James and John.
John saw him at his best, at the transfiguration on the mountain top,
And John saw him at his worst, in Gethsemane
John knew him differently, and I just believe if your relationship is different, your testimony should be different!
We started this Journey THROUGH JOHN, with the mindset of salvation. How we obtain salvation and the results of salvation.
John uses 7 signs 3 of which show salvation is through the word, by grace and through faith.
We then learned that salvation brings satisfaction and salvation brings peace. It is today, where we learn salvation brings light.
We now land in John chapter 9
Here it is Jesus us passing by, he sees a blind man from birth
The disciples questioned him and asked him who sinned? The man or his parents Jesus answers and says neither
Jesus says the reason why I did this is because I want my works to be displayed in him.
Jesus then goes on to say " As long as I am in the world I am the light of the world"
Jesus preceded to spit in the ground and make mud or as the King James Version calls it a "spittle" and tells him to "Go" and "Wash in the pool of Siloam"
The blind man Goes to wash in the pool of Siloam and comes back seeing!
(Now that I have given you the story let's go back and review this thing)
The text says that "Jesus is Passing by" so right off we know that Jesus is about to show out!
Look at his track record in John
In John chapter 2
He passes by a Wedding at Canna and shows his power by turning water to wine
In John chapter 4
He passes by a woman at the well and delivers her
In John Chapter 5
He passes by a man who has been lame for 38 years and the lame man walks
In John Chapter 6
Jesus passes by Galilee and feeds a crowd of 5000 with 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread
In John chapter 8
He passes by an adulterous woman and literally saves her life, he also spiritually saves her life.
So we know by his record that when Jesus passes by he shows up and shows out!
(Is there anybody)
I just need Jesus to pass
By my home
By my job
By my marriage
By my children
"Pass me not O gentle savior Hear my humble cry, while on others though art calling, do not pass me by"
IM CALLING YOU
SO AS Jesus is passing by they see a man who is blind from birth
His disciples question him asking not "how are we going to save him" or "how is it going to work" but they asked
Who sinned? Was it he or his parents?
"A common Jewish belief was that suffering came from someone who sinned personally or someone's bloodline sinning"
But Jesus uses this mans suffering to show his glory
So sometimes when you're going through it's it because of something you did wrong, maybe God is just trying to get glory out of your this.
Jesus responds and says NEITHER
Don't worry about the problem
Focus on the problem SOLVER
Jesus says "WE must do the works"
And that's what I want to tell you all STOP WORRYING AND START WORKING
stop worrying about the sin,
And start working with the Savior
Stop worrying about the how
But work with the He
Who is the he?
The one who says "Let There Be Light" in Genesis 1:3
Then Goes on to say
"I am the light " in John 9:5
He is the one who opens blinded eyes
He is the one who makes the lame walk
He is the one who make the mute talk
And because we have the HE on our side
The HE and I CAN HELP ALL
Because the Bible says I can
Do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me
The he will HELP ME
So Jesus spits on the ground and makes mud or a spittle and spreads it in the mans eyes
Why did he use SPIT? And why did he use DIRT
(These are my thoughts these are my perceptions of the text)
Jesus was giving the Blind man a piece of himself
Jesus being the "Light of the World"
And this Guy being a blind man is showing that he is trying to be a light in a Dark situation
And I'm glad that in my darkest days that Jesus gives me a piece of him so if he is the light and I got the light there won't be no darkness
Why did he use the dirt
Genesis 2:7 says that he created Adam from the DUST
HE HAD TO FIX HIM WITH WHAT HE CREATED HIM WITH
And a lot of times the reason that we're still blind is because we are not going to the creator
We think Alcohol will fix us
But we are still blind
We think weed will fix us
But we are still blind
We have to learn to Go to the Creator
So he puts the spittle in the blind mans eyes and tells him to Go
AND THE BLIND MAN WENT!
(He took God at his word)
You have to take God at his word
The text never says that the blind man was healed instantly
So how did the blind man get to Siloam
He could not use his eyes, but his ears, worked fine
He could not use his eyes, but his hands were just fine.
because when one part is rough, you strengthen the other parts.
KEEP GOING TIL YOU GET THERE!
