No way for a little bit. We're going through Philippians and this morning, we're touching on chapter 3 and kind of finishing off a second half of Paul spots. And that beginning, verses one through three, and he's going to kind of date, lay out for you and me some specific. He's going to challenge you basically. So throw away, all of your self efforts. And then again, if you've ever travel outside the country, over visiting a foreign country, you'll know that. The first thing you have to do when you arrive at your destination airport, if you haven't done. So already as what, Change your money cuz it's not worth anything. In France, the American dollar, right? It's not worth anything and you find that your money in America. In America might be worth nothing. But in France, it's utterly useless now. Hopefully you've already known that and you already knew that when you got there and you probably bought some money ahead of time. So what are you doing? The currency exchange booth and they can you trade in your American currency? For this local countries currency? And I said, usually taking a good skinning as my British friends, like, today in the process. We need new currency as yours isn't worth anything in. This is essentially what false thing to us this morning. Heaven's currency is completely different than the currency that you and I like to print all the time. Anything that you possess. Our currency is just as worthless in the Kingdom of Heaven. As an American dollar is in the nation of France, it's worthless, but that doesn't stop us, of course, from rolling up to the counter. To use are worthless currency to paint those spiritual goods and services that we see and read about in the Bible and left. We think we can get away with it. I'll check the at the arrivals at the arrival gate, of course through the remember the Philippians are dealing with some stripes and he's continued. As I said, these first three verses is continuing his fault with Wiley on his breakfast thing that it feels like a weird place to begin really a hyphen and he's finishing off his second thought. I called out and it's chapter that burped, really before Bird by bird any and all false gospel and he challenges us to be on guard for them at what he did in the first. But now he's going to elaborate on the reasons why the false gospels are. Well either fake person that says they're downright name. Why the currency that you and I like the traffic is invaluable worthless in God's eyes were worthless in the Kingdom of Heaven. All calls, this the flesh. What we do as people in The Flash. Most importantly, he says, Christians are to put no confidence in it, the flesh. But what exactly is The Flash while in short, it's kind of our default operating system are fallen and how we like to think about the world and how we act and react and respond to things in the world and its passage, of course, laid out for us. I think really only two option. The first is keep printing, your own useless currency or secondly, receive currency. That's the only two options we have been to the very essence of the Christian faith. So if you've been a Christian for a while, and you think yeah, yeah. Yeah. Well just pay attention, but you might be surprised by some of the ways in which you can print counterfeit money. Okay? The first, let's look at the ways in which we print our own printing Falls. Going to go through a list of seven different way that he printed his own currency, any plays the part of a Madman. That's crazy. Here. He does the same thing in 2nd Corinthians chapter 11, not familiar with that what's on an idle or not a night away from a mask and he momentarily slips back into a point in time when he actually thought that it's useless accomplishments miss something and he's going to basically unpack it and he's going to stay in seven of these different kinds of accomplishment for which are inherited, and they had nothing to do with and three of which are his personal accomplishment. Any begins in first five, if you have your Bibles open, I'd like you just returned with me there and kind of follow along because we're going to go see these fairly quickly. Okay? First of all, he says that he was circumcised on the eighth day. His parents circumcised him, seven days after his first that is it Jewish 8th day because Lucas County, sometimes they don't but anyway, this was in strict compliance with Abraham.

Spell. All right, to do all the things that God expect us to do. But most potent Pagan proselyte from the backwoods of wherever he came from the grafted into the kingdom, for the people of Israel. He was a sent it to from the 8th day. Going forward, you was a covenant keeper. He was there. He was one of the circumcised from Bert, that's who he was. So that was an inherited privilege that he had not something he had anything to do with, what's like your approval. But you can hear it. It had nothing to do with them either. Secondly. He says, he's of the people of Israel, more specifically. The Greek says of the race of Israel. And this meant that racially he was no Harry Potter fans. It was no Half-Blood. Somebody was no habsyi. He was a full-blood authentic Jew. He was an Israelite and those were the terms that the Jews refer to their own Nation. No one else refer to them. That way others might call them shoes that only they call themselves. The children of Israel. Paul was a child of Israel of the race of Israel. He wasn't a complete Insider. Another word. She was no alien to the Covenant and Promises of God. Thirdly to make matters, more specific. He was of The Tribe of Benjamin. I don't know if you know about little Benjamin the small tribe, but Benjamin was the only fun born in the Promised Land. Do Bible trivia for you and The Tribe of Benjamin was the only tribe. Remain faithful to Judah & The House of David after the death of Stalin. Remember all that nasty, this Adelaide, all that Absalom and all that stuff. Benjamin was the only one to be faithful. The Tribe of Benjamin went into Exile with the tribe of Judah and returned. From Exile. With Judah to resettle Jerusalem. Benjamin remained at the Cornerstone, the score of spirituality. They were devoted. Baseball. Try to call Israel first king. Benjamin and the Apostle. Paul's given name was Saul a connection to that. Great thing for Spinoza turned out, did Heritage radiated from within he was at inside or pride. And then lastly, one of the inherited statement that he makes, is he the Hebrew Hebrew now, Though. He'd been born where. But no. Where is that? Not in Israel, it was born outside the mother work, but he was born. He was a Hebrew. His parents were Hebrews before him. He had the lineage of human. That's why he's the Hebrew of Hebrews. He spoke Hebrew and Aramaic. Not many Jews. Did he spoke? Rather? He he prayed and read the scriptures in Hebrew. And though, he was born in this area around silicia. His parents made sure to send him the best Jewish school in Jerusalem, and he's putting a force under the famous Rabbi gambling, that Paul was a private school Insider ever met some of them. They hope like that. Love a member of Gilligan's Island Lewiston. How the snow up there up there. They're the Blue Bloods or the folks that come out of the mothers with silver spoons in their mouths. They were privileged. Paul was one of those people, he was privileged. So the Apostle Paul inherited these Prudential. Before you ever lifted a finger. Make you jealous that you don't like people like that. He was born into privilege. Not like these, you know so-called very very actually very similar to these so-called Blue Bloods in our country, whose genealogies education and position and place them at the top, rung of the social ladder. Any folks. What time the Beatles were playing in the theater in John? Lennon said you know those of you in the cheap seats, you can clap your hands in the rest of you can rattle you. There's a jewelry jewelry Rattlers. That's what they are and followers of that. She was. I ain't got much more Jewish. Paul.

But Paul didn't rat on his pedigree zoo pet, agree, but not Paul, his track record was phenomenal. Not only did you have inherited privileges. You also was a hard worker Gates achieved personal accomplishments that many of us. Really. Are you, as privileged are at the router as devoted as focused as Paul? He says he was a Pharisee not to help you understand a lot about all. Those pharisaism was a lame move. It wasn't like an ordained thing that began when the Jews returned from Exile from Babylon. Pharisee mean by definition, separated one the Pharisees distance themselves. What it means from unclean people and only ate with strictly observant. They didn't want to get that on them. But the best way to stay away from sin, right? It's not to associate with people who are going to get it all over you. Christians do that, don't have this idea that sin is transferable to skin. Some know how that works. But none the less. I digress. Paul's ancestors were Pharisees. He was told he pulled the Sanhedrin or it rather. He was told he post said, who the Sanhedrin, but Paul's pharisaism was a matter of choice. And you voluntarily found himself up, hundreds of Commandments of the oral law, was brilliant, but for was the inflexible. You was inflexible. See what I have, you ate. Who could hold his own theologically with anyone? Sickly. He describes himself in verse 6, as to seal persecutor of the church. I don't know if I need to tell you that Paul orchestrated a campaign of Terror against the early church, and had achieved growing Fame in infamy amongst his pharisaic Circle. That's being Harris, really terrorizing the little Christian church. We read about this in Acts, of course, most notably impulse present. That's a gruesome stoning of Stephen, as he watched the Garment. He never got his hands dirty. He was cleverer than that. He didn't like, but nonetheless, he stood there approving gazing lie upon the execution. And he was so highly esteem by his faricy brothers that he had such a reputation. For that and many other violent thing.

At the right now, but Paul was sold out for seal for Holy and he understood holy to be required to require camping outfits in all the way. Right? But lastly, ask the righteousness under the law blameless, noticing that some say that he was sinless or that he was dopest, but he was playing it right? You see Pharisees assume that a faithful is real. I could keep the 40 613 Commandments far as the law provided ritual and procedures for forgiveness for your vacation. In the Lycan Falls conduct was blameless in a sense of blameless, describe, an exemplary way of life live in accordance with pharisaic interpretation. And this is how his peers for him to wholly blameless off. All fall of Tarsus was blameless under the law. Nepal was, let's put it this way to spiritual. Not many of us could have achieved things, you Chief. Let alone is Reddit pedigree. Imagine the match of the focus. This guy, The Willpower that he had the confidence. He has self-awareness. He must have the discipline. The Iron, Will that he had all the things that your pastor is not, and probably you aren't in many ways as well. And so, Paul's claiming verse for, when he says, if anyone else thinks, he has reasons for confidence in the flesh. I have more not simply an empty boat, really a warning. It's a warning to you and me. It's a warning to the judaizers to the Flippin Christian. It's a warning to us. Careful. Careful. What you think makes you good before God by jingle around in your pocket because in the end, it's not worth. DePaul gives you this list of accomplishment this list of descriptions. And I wonder do you see yourself in any of them? Not even a little bit. You see yourself in any, then see, see how you're doing the same exact thing, how you're printing this own, your own worthless currency as a way of standing before God, and you think that it means something. And Paul think he looks spreading out, that means nothing. It's useless. It's garbage rubbish. It's actually in a Greek, which means, Dog dirt. Okay. That is, that's what it is. That's how vile it is in. I'm going to sit right stuff is worth anything. See, I believe if you're like me, you're very likely basing your confidence to stand before God on your achievement inherited by you or otherwise of paint by your effort. Write your born in the United States. The best, right? God Bless the USA and we're privileged. We know, we are, we're Superior to other. We are. Maybe you grew up with a good. If not, I shall we say remarkable education and you've utilized you weren't out. Make something of yourself. You work hard. You've got this. The plan you got willpower and all these things that made you different from those around you who are lazy, undisciplined, weak-willed Superior to them, you are better. You are better than them. You keep the rules set forth by the church. You read Christian books, you listen to Christian music. You want Christian film and seats down. All these things give you. The illusion that God is actually pleased with you.

You're not like those other Arnold, right.

But you see the thing is, put off any more wall. If you're basing your skin tone.

That's the same thing as this list of stuff is all calls from Google.

Are you worried? Are you worried that maybe God's not is friendly with you, as you thought? Because you're, you've been cranking out this currency thinking that it's going to be used in the kingdom of God anime. That actually work. But God going up there with a marker. All of it. The reason you feel competent for God because you're carrying around a suitcase full of this money that you can printing up your whole life, your accomplishments, your performance, your status, or whatever, the case may be, and you just have heard the penny drop. Isn't that it's useless. It's worth noting Paul meant to be a shock to the Bolivian system. He meant it to be. Cold water poured on our faces to wake us up from our stupor.

Now. Some of you may be feeling utterly despondent because you failed to live up to your potential. Well, when he was gone, we knew something Buddy. Do that to your kids. Inadvertently, maybe or maybe you failed to meet the expectations of your parents. Or the estimations of other people in your life that you value and respect. Seek the reason this. Wait crushing you. Cause you're hopelessly cranking the handle of that printing. Press 93/12 that is in the eyes of God. Orderly worthless, Paul District. you do that, I

And then come one of my favorite. Most beautiful words in the entire Bible.

but, Off as a set, but whatever King I have. hounded at Wawa

I can kind of see no, it's written down. All his accomplishments on the credit Side Of The Ledger item by item by item, listing them out, all the things. He's balance, the scale with on the side. He measured, it is not left anything off and everything that could be good to his account. He put their everything each and every one of his game, he says, but when the accountants, I look down the list and tallies up to call him and draw the line under the total that says

Let's check it again. Let's measure it up with lay it out with added up again. And let's total it. What are we get?

Call my everything. They think many of us are living that same way. We have this idea that there's some big Grand scale up in the heaven. And then on one side all of our Good Deeds going on the other side, then God lets us in. We have a relationship with him having great, right? That is so not true. Paul lips like that. He thought his accomplishments were something of value but it's not they are not worth anything if you want to believe that. That's fine, but I just want to tell you right now that is not Christian. That's not what the gospel tells us after. All has been said, there is nothing in less than nothing for Paul's effort. And certainly there's no ground for confidence in the sight of God. And if all my friends cannot stand before God with his compliments, you and I are supposed. We are not the chosen people. Most were grafted in. If you're not Jewish your grass it in. So what right? Do you have? Well less than fall for sure. All our efforts at being good enough. In the eyes of God or anyone else. I might add is simply rubbish. This worthless. They mean nothing there. An illusion pretending to be something, but as I said, then the most powerful beautiful work settles into your ears and Jesus Christ. Enters the room, but price. Paul lay down everything. He's he valued his currency so that he might stain price. We need to do. Printing. It doesn't work. How then you can cry. Well, how do you possess them twice? That's not come. God does not become Ours by effort, but by rejection of it. Come through stopping the printing, press and putting it down and saying, look, I'm going to trust in fried rice. No one has ever worked for righteousness, as hard as faulted and yet does not see Christ as a prize standing, just above the top rung of the ladder with Cheeseman. If only I can climb high enough. I will gain him right but no lie. I thought enough balls at the milk bottles. I'll knock it down. Eventually. I'll just keep printing money for like you spending it and hopefully, maybe I can attain to some level of relationship with price. You do not gain Christ by fancy Church ceremony. You cannot gain Christ by Leading or living a decent moral life. You hear me? 19 Christ that way you may think you are morally Superior to others but only relative. In the eyes of God. There is none righteous. No one.

You cannot have pie by rising to your potential through self effort in. I'm preaching the gospel.

No, you cannot gain twice by any of these means you can price the way Paul gang price and countless others before him have gained him. You reject all your effort. And you open the empty hands of fate. What's nothing? It's the same way we come to Christ. It's the way you stay in price and everything else, is simply useless currency crisis. The only replacement for your driving and your are you all together enough, Falls and ours through space Achievements. Not performance. This is great mystery that the missionary John G Patton. He's talking about when he's struggling to find a local word at the missionary which could illustrate this idea fake. And how would you describe, right? What's that it sitting on a chair? Has not there or Indiana? Jones. Indiana Jones walk off the cliff and there's actually something there. But blind week. That's not what we've all the prices episodes. This guy. John G. Patton is missionary was trying to come. Come to find a word that made sense in the vernacular and then someone walked up to him and older man, and he he Paws and he put his arm on him. He says please son. May I come and lean on you? So tired.

Meaning. Finding your rest. In price, not not in labor, but the distinction of Labor not in striving but the cessation of spice not in performance, but in the cessation of perform its resting on price hike alone. The righteousness that could never be ours by our own work or sliding or performance. In this of course, is a lifelong process.

Morning to put your full weight on Fridays. Most the time. You don't realize what the burdens in your life are until the Holy Spirit, shows them to you. And then you lean fully upon price and you must

Husband said that sometimes you don't realize the crisis, all you having are all you need until price. Do you have right before that? so in conclusion, final, Paul came to the end of all his costly striving after acceptance before God, through simply believing in price leaning fully upon. You must come to that realization. So you must realize that you have no currency of value in God's eyes. And yet, but one has already purchased everything you need. Giving you some self, the most valuable thing. He could ever give his son's life and he gave it to you. And you know what, he says to you doesn't say, do you like it in the Saving Private Ryan? Where the Ryan turns to his wife and look over the Dead, the graves of his dead comrades and he says, did I do enough? Did I do enough to earn the sacrifice? They gave for me? That I live a good life. Christian, you do not.

What you do is you come at, Jesus said, all your bird, lay them at his feet and listen to this beautiful pass. Do you know it from Isaiah 55?

Another great,. But Isaiah says, what the holy spirit says everyone who's first Tom to the waters, he who has no money, you have none, come by and eat with whose money.

His current come by and come buy, wine, and milk without money.

Stop. Stop printed your own.

Find the chief of favor of God. She's already been keeping. Frankie your goal.

But if you have that, you have fright. Nothing else. Most valuable thing ever, ever. Hope for. These reflexes are the only son.
