Promises of God – His Joy
Thus far we have covered GOD’s promise of Love, Forgiveness, Salvation, Holy Spirit, and Peace.
So, this morning we talked about suffering within the church and how so many are going through a “trial of life”. Does that mean there is no joy to be had? Of course not.
Does God promise us Joy? Yes, of course He does.
What is the scriptural evidence of His Joy?
· Psalm 16:11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
o If there is an absence of joy perhaps, we should consider where it is that we are camped out. Just look at all this verse has to offer us.
§ A guide for life.
§ Joy if we stay in His presence
§ Pleasures evermore – but we need to hang around with God.
· Psalm 90:14 O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
o Well, we already know that His mercies and compassions are new each morning. (Lamentations 3:22-23)
o When you know that you know that you are a redeemed child of God, how can there be anything other than joy?
· John 15:10-11 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. 11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
o The promise is, in some regard, conditional. There is an abiding love that comes with Joy. Now it’s not that we must keep His commandments in order to be loved and thereby experience His joy, it’s more when you keep His commandments you will find yourself living in [abiding in] His love and therein is the Joy!
§ He tells us this that we might have that Joy to the fullest extent!
· John 16:22 And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.
o Our hope is in Christ, the Hope of Glory, so that no matter what the world brings our way, we find JOY in knowing that one day we will forever rest in and with Christ. NOW, that ought to bring any Christian Joy.
· 1 Peter 1:8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
Are you there? Are you in love with Jesus Christ? Are you believing and rejoicing in knowing that one day soon you shall see HIM as HE is and forever dwell in the house of the Lord? You shall see HIM who died for you.
